Kettlebell What WTH effects have you experienced from S&S/Kettlebell training in general?

I sometimes have to carry a fair amount of gear around, and because I had a couple of rehearsals and performances earlier this week, I was shlepping my double bass, a guitar, and an amplifier around. I have found, in the past, that sometimes the distance between my car and the "gig" is longer than I'd like and I get tired, but since I started, a few months ago, swinging a kettlebell a few days a week, I've noticed that my stamina for my awkward loaded carries has markedly improved, a good thing!

Get yourself a bass buggie and a kart a bag hand truck. Those are some of the best gear investments i've made. I'm lazy and take the easy way out when it comes to schelpping.
 
I've owned and then sold a bass buggie - didn't care for it. Didn't stay firmly planted on the bass when moving, and was one more piece of gear to keep track of. I'll carry.

I recently entered a local strongman competition just for the fun of it. I hadn't trained for any of the events just mainly been doing s&s for a few months. The wth moment came when I deadlifted 190kg which is 10kg more than my previous pr. As soon as I put the bar down I immediately thought wth? Then i could hear the voice of Pavel saying "kettlebells defy the law of specificity".
I was also able to overhead press a giant 58kg dumbbell, clean and press a 90kg axle, farmerwalk 192kg and move a 245kg yoke. Considering I had never performed any of those exercises before I was quite shocked to say the least.
What is also quite amazing is that I'm only at the simple level, I have yet to start working towards sinister so I'm excited to see what results that will yield.

Despite doing zero cardio for years, I ran with my rugby team playing touch & another game on Saturday, and was not nearly as winded as I expected to be. I was with them for 90+ minutes in 2 hours. We had a small break to have a couple beers.... o_O;)

I was sore and stiff that night, but with my standard stretching routine, I was good to go and did my kettlebell workout right afterwards. My wife, my daughter, & I said "WTH", why aren't you/I stiff & sore?

Thank you kettlebells.......the exercises, along with training with one minute of rest between sets & training to recover have definitely made a difference that we all could see.

Wow! How your other/previous training looked like?

I would credit kettlebell work of all variety and barbell front squats in helping me achieve a 550 pound Deadlift at the end of last year. Kettlebell Snatches, Swings and Clean & Jerks I would certainly say gave me stronger back, hips, glutes and hamstrings to lock out a heavy deadlift and the barbell front squats gave me the leg strength to get a heavy weight moving off of the floor.

Since beginning S&S back in March I have noticed how much better my mobility is since performing TGUs. I haven't been hitting the barbells with any serious intent since March so I haven't really experienced any carry over yet. I'm hoping once August rolls around and enter a strength phase with barbells that all the S&S work will have improved my deadlift and Oh Press once I get my technique back on track. Squats and Bench Presses require volume and frequency for anything special to happen there!!
 
I have a different experience. Kind of an inverted what the hell effect.
Between november and may I do a lot of cross country skiing. This winter I think I skied something like 1000 kilometers. Mostly skate style. Mostly as slow as possible, sometimes nose breathing, even if it's very hard to ski uphill without spiking the heart rate.
Every winter I feel that my swing conditioning benefits greatly from cross country skiing. Every spring I feel that the recovery between swing sets is shorter and that by october the swings suffer from lack of long slow skiing in the summer.
I almost never run, so I don't know if it's the long slow aerobic training in general that does the trick or if it's the fact that freestyle cross country skiing in "3rd gear" is a lot like swinging really light for a long time.
Unfortunately I don't feel that it's the other way around. Since I started Simple and Sinister several years ago I have gone from two-hand-swinging the 24 kg to one-hand-swinging the 32 kg, and sometimes the 40 kg, but I have not felt that it has improved my cross country skiing.
Just sayin'...
 
it's the long slow aerobic training in general that does the trick

Interesting input, Fred. That would be my take on it. Aerobic base is like a "rising tide that lifts all boats."
 
This isn't exactly worth notifying the authorities about and giving me a parade, but for the first time in a few years I bought some mulch and river rocks at the local hardware store. The bags each weighed about 55 lbs and I was flinging them in the cart without much trouble while younger guys (I'm 52) were getting the staff to give them a hand. I was surprised how easy I was handling the bags. It really felt great.

Obviously, I owe thanks to Pavel, Steve, and the others who maintain this website, but also to you guys for all of your great ideas and posts that help keep me motivated. I post rarely but I check this forum every day and it really helps keep me interested in kettlebelling.
 
I don't know if it's a "WTH" effect (and I'm still struggling with English).

I've started ROP the 01/09/2016 with a 16 kg for the clean&press (it was my 12 RM) and a 24 kg for the swings (I believe that my PR was 10*10 swings in about 6 minutes). I lost a bit of fat and added a fair amount of muscles on my abs, glutes, back and shoulders.

I received my 32 kg KB the 22/05/2017. After reading this Reddit post, I thought it was a good idea to do one-handed swings with it, 2 reps on the minute for 10 minutes. My goal was to get used to the 32 kg bell. Then I added some time (20 minutes was my target). And then I added reps (5 reps was my target, but I'm still at 3 reps now). I did those swings during the "rest/play" day, that is around 2 - 3 times a week, which is 11 training session until my new PR (see below). Despite the "heavy" weight, I wasn't burnt after the swings, my hands are still a bit painful because of the weight (my hands are soft), but that's it. I remember the first time I used this bell for the swing (the 23/05/2017), it felt heavy.

I gradually added the 32 kg in the main ROP training. I'm know only using the 32 kg.

The 18/06/2017, I did 10*10 reps in 5:08 with the 32. My technique wasn't great (my breath wasn't in sync for about 7 reps), but my grip was good enough, the problem was my hearth and my lungs. I think that in two or three months, I shall do it with a good technique.
Also, yesterday I was impressed by my arms: they are bigger than before. I think it's the heavy swings that did that, because they feel a bit sore after the Hard and Medium days.
I noticed that I run faster (or my acceleration is greater, I don't know). During a thrash metal concert, I wasn't bothered by the pit: I had enough strength and endurance do stay in it.
