Hello everyone,

Some time ago I came up with the idea of organizing an "online" TSC for people who for various reasons can't attend the official event. I would like to start with the fact that this is not an attempt to draw people away from the official event but to create opportunities for people who would not participate in them in the first place. I believe that real TSC is not just an attempts on three lifts - it's an opportunity to meet fantastic people who think like us. Nothing will replace participating in this event.

However, some people live in places where TSCs are not organized, but they would like to have reason to train and be a little competitive. At this point uTSC appears.

The idea is simple, the same day when the real TSC will be held (October 28th 2017), everyone willing to participate in our project will test their strength in three TSC competitions, this can be done at home or in a nearby gym.
  • All rules for Novice, Open, Elite and Masters categories apply.
  • The results should be post in this thread.
  • The honor code apply and I think that no one will verify sent results, remember that it is primarily for fun. However I encourage everyone to take a video of all the attempts and put it on YouTube (can be posted as private and attached here). It will be a good opportunity to get some help with improving the lifts and get to know each other a little better :)
  • If there will be a lot of scores we can think about doing some quick summary here.
  • We can think about doing it frequently in the future if you will like it.
What do you think?

I know from my log's discussion that at least a few people are interested in participating in the uTSC. I believe that we will have a lot of fun in October :)

Good idea! I agree that an in person TSC is obviously ideal but this is a great way to bring more people unofficially into this great competition!

@damogari - Will this event have the Women's Novice and Open 12kg and 16kg also?

If someone would like to start in Novice division I think that it will be possible, I don't know how many people will participate in this project so I mentioned only Open and Masters.

Frankly, I don't get this Novice division idea :). For me TSC is for challenging myself periodically and its hard to compare my numbers when for example I was snatching different sized bells. But thats just me, if someone wants to compete as Novice I will be more than happy to add her/his score on leaderboard :). Same for Elite.

Edit: One thing that worries me is if there will be so many divisions and not-so-many participants then there will be a chance that someone will be in his division alone, not a very competitive scenario :). But as I said before, I will be glad to get results from all of you, after all it should be fun for everyone :)

I will edit the first post to include these divisions.

I agree; Too many divisions. I do think we need one female division with the 12kg bell. As far as men, I don't care, as long as I get to compete (I'm shooting for one strict pull-up!)

I believe that you can do it @Peck'88! As far as I remember I went from from 0 to my first pull up in less then 6 weeks, I wasn't that far from your size and definitely not that strong as you!

Folks, I want to encourage everyone who possibly can to attend a real TSC. The sense of camaraderie, of cheering on your fellow competitors and being cheered on by them - it can't be beat.

Thank, @damogari! I'm shooting for your snatch reps! I'm hoping for 100 with a 20kg.
Do you have an access to 24kg? Why not trying to compete with standard weight? With a 56kg kb press you are not a Novice anymore! :)

+1 for what Steve said. There's no substitute for attending a real meet. If there is a TSC near you, you definitely should participate in.

In my case I have to travel to another country to attend a TSC. Unfortunately the time and money commitment for this is too high for me now.

EDIT: I checked again, there are actually two events in Poland, will check the air tickets and its possible that I will have a chance to attend. :)

I do have 24's. But the challenge is with a 20kg, @damogari...:D I feel it's only fair to compete with what the rules state.:D:p

Folks, I want to let everyone know that StrongFirst has noticed the unofficial TSC, and we've been talking amongst ourselves about ways to include people who can't make it to an official event.

So far, while our discussions have been interesting and productive, we don't have an option to offer for Fall, 2017. That's the bad news.

The good news is that we are _thrilled_ with everyone's interest in being part of the TSC, and are looking forward to hearing about how you do.

@damogari, thank you for your interest, your ideas, and for starting this thread.

Just to give you an idea, Crossfit has people who can't get their Open results confirmed by a certified coach load up videos of their performance.
They set standards (stating your full name, date, etc.; showing the weight; having a certain camera angle etc.) which everyone who submits a vid has to oblige to.
Seems to be working well for them.
