Islay Mist is the cheapest edible whisky around where Masa and I live. It has become a staple in our household.

Sometimes Kolme Leijonaa has been acceptable as well, but it changes batch to batch so it's too irregular for my tastes. Islay Mist costs only a little extra and has always been good.

Awesome!. I haven't had any of those but have had Nikka coffey grain and it tasted very similar to bourbon
Haven't opened Nikka yet, but had Nikka Blended Malt few years ago. If my memory serves it tasted more like a Scotch thou.

Picked up a few more bottles in the past months.

High West Mid Winters Nights Dram(blend of rye whiskies)
Willett Family Estate 5 yr old Rye
Joseph Magnus Bourbon(finished in cognac and 2 different sherry barrels)
Corsair Ryemageddon(cork dorks store pick) its a single barrel rye whiskey at cask strength.

I agree. I've moved towards Islay Mist too due to lack of homogeneous in Kolme Leijonaa.

I really like Scottish whisky.
Just as with coffee I do not have a specific preferency for a special taste profile. If you invest in good quality it all tastes fantastic, the question only is which nuances.
I like a milde Auchentoshan just as much as a smokey Lagavulin.
Recently I tried Smokehead. Very, very smokey and peaty but if you take your time with it you will experience some sweet notes in the aftertaste. If you are looking for a new scotch experience I can recommend it!
Would like to try an Irish whiskey. Any recommendations, guys?

If you're looking for incredible value in bourbon, try Henry McKenna single barrel 10 yr. It is "Bottled in Bond", and as such, 100 proof. A single ice cube or a bit of water cuts it nicely if you're not used to the 100 proof.
If you can find it, Buffalo Trace is also a fantastic value.

Yes, thanks!
There was even a scientific paper on iz recently.
Which kind of water would you recommend? Distilled?

If I had to use something out of a bottle, it would be spring water or reverse osmosis. I have a nice filter at the house, so I just use the water from that.

In the event that ice is involved, it's equally important that those ice cubes come from some sort of filtered or high quality spring water.

I've tried to find this - it was apparently only made for one year, and hasn't been made since 2015. If you know where it's available that can ship, please pass along that information. Everyone I asked who'd tried it said very good things about it.

McKenna is an ongoing release. I've had numerous bottles over the past few years. If you're looking to have a bottle shipped, this is probably the best place to get it.

I think @TravisS is right about that.

But I can't find a bottle of Buffalo Trace anywhere in central VA... I think people are on to it.

I tried to buy online via this link, but the checkout process froze on my phone in the middle. I sent them a message.
