I thought it would be interesting, (being that we are all here from all over the world, in the name of strength) to post the place where it all gets done and you show up and "bring it". Garage, commercial gym, bodyweight on the playground, barbell, whatever...share if you wish! Bonus answer...music, your favorites, or even silence and no music.

I will start us off...live a ways away from my nearest gym, so if I relied on that I would find many excuses not to get there. This is my basement. My working bells 20kg, 16kg, 12kg, 8kg. In the back an extra 12 and 16kg, and the big beasts 24kg and 32kg. Rice bucket for sweaty hands. Gymboss. Notebook. And an old white board on which I have numbers 1-10 R/L marked for swings, and 1-5 R, L, and Done marked in column for getups with pennies to move to keep track (doing Simple and Sinister here). And quotes on it, like the one on my avatar.

Snow here now, and garage is freezing. Sometimes in warmer months I do swings outside.

Music...it varies a lot. Sometimes video game soundtracks/movie soundtracks, sometimes rock. Today was the "This is Muse" Playlist on Spotify. And sometimes even classical.

Fun idea...

At home this is it. (Although it's always dark when I train)

  • 3 KB's, Wrist Roller, Wrist Pronation Bar, Rock Rings, Fingerboard out back. (Grippers in the house) That's it!
  • Outside
  • Cold in the winter. Hot in the summer.
  • No music (but if there was it would be Psychobilly)
On the road, it's local playgrounds, my hotel room, airports...

That looks sweet! Is that a covered hot tub nearby? With a BBQ you have a post workout meal, and post workout dip in the hot tub! Not in the hot summer I am guessing....

This is an older picture my gym is in a a mess with baby stuff, digging out Christmas decorations, and winter gear. We are trying to purge and organize bins and shelves of stuff.

I have a stupid amount of things to lift and accessories I have collected over the last 6 years I have been in this house. Not pictured are odd objects, rings, pullup bars, more dumbells, more Kettlebells, more plates, more bars, more grip tools. Lots of interesting stuff.

Just posting to say how insanely jealous I am of the content in this thread so far

Me too! Hopefully, my humble set-up will bring the overall standard down a bit:

Courage_Corner.JPG

L-R: Gravity Fitness parallettes , 2×4kg Lonsdale dumbbells (behind parallettes), Wolverson 'Black' kettlebells; 16kg, 24kg, 32kg, Ab-wheel, Neuro-grips, Wolverson 'Boot Polish' kettlebells; 20kg, 28kg, 'outdoor' yoga mat (pale green), 'indoor' yoga mat (black), green skipping rope (handle just visible at adge of frame) [Not pictured: doorway chin-up bar, gymnastic rings, resistance bands, dipping belt, cheap TRX copy].

I train outside when it's not raining even if it's cold. I don't train to music anymore but when I did it was almost always death metal/hardcore or something similarly uptempo and heavy. I sometimes train before breakfast, sometimes after but never before coffee.

My gym conservatory:

a very badly made one as the builders put the rafters too low for my rings! Those rings are there just for hanging on at the moment, not really using them. They are catalysts to many a domestic tiff when I'm ordered to take them down during the summer when other family members take the liberty of using it as a conservatory. It doubles as a sauna in the summer too.
No heating in there so it is just dry and is the reason why I don't take cold showers as I train outside all the time. My other gym is seen beyond.
Apologies for the green plastic kettlebell in the corner, some other pairs lie in the garage at the moment. The box contains a smelly old yoga mat, ab wheel, skipping rope, get ups knee pads and dog toys.

Alright let's see if I manage to upload a picture (edit: how do you upload pictures to show inline in the post?)

Got my bike setup for winter indoor training, so it shares it's newfangled carbon life with lots of oldfashioned iron

Kettlebells go from 12 to 32kg, with doubles for 16, 20, and 24kg

Not pictured is a random assortment of diy stuff that does not see much use and a few (ok too many) rucks

@Steve Freides That's an awesome set-up! I can see a modified kettlebell with tape and barbell plates and is that an Ironmind axle bar?
Yes, the duct taped creation is my 22 kg kettlebell.

And yes, that is an Apollon's Axle. I've been doing a triple progression sort of thing with the straddle deadlift - did 225 x 5 reps x 2 sets, now have 245 on the bar and am up to triples, and once I get to 5's, I'll put some more weight on the bar. I've done 285 for a single in years past. I like two sets of that because I do one set each way, once with my right hand to the front and once the other.

It really is a great setup - you can easily have 4 people lifting at the same time in the big room, and we've had 5 or 6 and still made it work, all that and then the deadlift corner in addition.

Mine is literally a corner LOL If it wasn't winter, outside would be my courage corner.

Courage corner #1 is for everything but warming up and TGUs, because I don't like to roll around in the snow. Courage corner #2 is for TGUs and warming up, and also happens to be our living room and my son's play area, so it's good motivation to get my training in before everyone else wakes up. Right now I'm alternating swing days with TGU days, so the two bells I'm using are on the left side of the picture. The rest are tucked away in the boy's bedroom. IMG_20171213_080311882.jpg

And you call yourself Snowman! :p

My living room is like yours: toys and books for three boys ages 3-6, and their (girl) cousin twice a week...there is always something to step on.
