@Michael Scott, please give consideration to a breathing practice. I and @aciampa both teach Buteyko breathing - you can find out more here:

http://AdvancedButeyko.com

and there is a forum there as well where you can ask questions.

@Steve Freides, ok, that is hard. I know I am not in great shape, but damn........:oops::oops::oops::oops:

It is time consuming and frustrating at first, but for some health issues it is a cost-effective and very powerful tool.

I always keep my eye on the prize. I had a singing teacher who, whenever a student complained, said, “Life is hard, singing is hard, and then you die.” The implication was that if you wanted to sing well, you’d do the hard thing. If you want relief from asthma symptoms without taking medicine, you do the hard thing. The prize, at least IMHO, is priceless.

Tough love, @Michael Scott.

56, no meds. Vitamin D, multi, fish oil, and recently switched to tumeric from glucosamine. We will see if the switch has any positive impact on arthritic knees.

Well, @Steve Freides, the Buteyko Breathing practice is going to be put on hold for a while. I just found out that I have a severely deviated septum, that is so bad it is blocking both passages. So, nothing is currently going to help me breath better......consequently, I am going to take some antibiotics and then I will get this fixed. I will revisit this breathing practice after the surgery. I will admit that this has not been an easy practice so far, but hopefully I will be able to make greater strides once my nose is fixed.....

@Michael Scott, best of luck with it. I've had pictures taken and have had my septum described as "rather severely deviated" but, so far, I can breath through my nose just enough.

I use a Breath Right strip when I run - you might give that a try to see if it helps you.

61, 81 grain aspirin for blood thinning purposes stemming from a few bouts of atrial fibrillation. My EP said that I fit the profile; tall, basketball background. No known triggers. Fortunately, I can tell if I have an ectopic beat so I have always known when my "little visitor" decides to stop by. Some times he stops by 2-3 times a year for a while, sometimes I go years without an episode. Frankly, it wouldn't bother me if he never showed up again.

I am 51 and only take a multi vitamin, fish oil and occasionally vitamin D. I was diagnosed with high blood pressure at age 49, and prescribed a med, but through weight loss and exercise I no longer have to take it.

+1 to @Steve Freides and @aciampa on Buteyko. I got cured of chronic runny nose and allergies using it, plus some other very important benefits (like 8 kg weight loss without dieting and resting HR dropped from 60 to 45-50, amongst other things).

Im 34 so I don't belong in this group yet. I'm not in great shape yet, so my goal is to be in better shape overall every year until reaching 50. Then reassess, and extend the period until 60.

45 & take nothing except daily iron supplement I lift. Had hard life & accumulated lots of aches & pains, multiple daily doses of os & superjoints have well & truly brought that under control. @Anna C I’ve had bouts of reflux as well, a old timer I know told me to try chewing gum as the saliva created works like an antacid. I’ve been chewing sugar free gum for years when I get episode & gotta say for me it works. Simple drug free solution

At 51, I choke back fish oil, magnesium, vitamin c, and if I'm feeling 'achy'- I have a fantastic turmeric blend supplement that works a charm. Oh yeah, Vit D3 as well. My lifting supplements are: Creatine- BCAAs- (both of these deliver a noticeable positive effect) and I'm still using Beta-Alanine and Citrulline Malate. I am going to cycle off the Beta-Alanine and Citrulline Malate for 6 months and evaluate if there is any performance effect. I do notice a serious 'pump' with the 6-9 grams of Citrulline Malate I chug back in my pre workout drink. I also have zero caffeine during the day asides from a 200mg caffeine tab with my pre workout beverage.....

My full compliment of vitamins these days goes like this:

AM - fish oil, multi-vitamin, 300 mg potassium, D3

PM - fish oil, 300 mg potassium, and a calcium/magnesium/zinc

I know..I love coffee too. But I want the maximum 'punch' from my pre workout, so I try to have as little coffee during the day as possible. If I do have a coffee, it's usually around 0600- about 10 hours before I train. Truly a first world problem I reckon.
