Hello,

As Batman is my old-time super hero (with MacGyver!...and yes I am still a child in my mind ;) ) here is something about training (to be considered with a pinch of salt of course !)

Here is the source:
Real Anime Training: Batman: Bane's Solitary Confinement Workout

It lacks of squats but...

Kind regards,

and how often do you find yourself thinking: yeah, that it, thats all you need, this will bring results!!! and then paralysis by analyses comes into play...

but of course we need squats. no arguments here!

That is right ! This is why I told myself "stop thinking, start pushing !". I tackled an experiment with high reps to see how it went. So far so good !

That's awesome.

1,000 pull-ups every day tho... I wonder if anyone's ever actually done that?

The world record for pull-ups in 24 hours is 4,321 but I doubt they did any push-ups and sit-ups in the same day and their arms probably felt like hell the day after.

Hello,

@Chrisdavisjr
I agree ! I do not think this is really possible for a normal person hehe. In this comics, Bane (at this moment) is in jail.

Kind regards,

I need this as a poster now!
BTW, I "accidentally" did 5x20 (20-25 min) push ups yesterday day...a bit sore, but I like the idea.

Hello,

@somanaut
For my body, and regarding my goals (strength + strength-endurance) it appears that a blend of OAOL PU and standard PU is the right spot.

To be more specific regarding the blend:
> Everyday, I GTG with OAOL PU
> 2-3 a week, I do 2-3 sets close to failure (1 rep more would be impossible)

This approach leaves me plenty of time to recover, plus gives me strength and endurance. I also noticed it maintains some hypertrophy.

Kind regards,

Thanks for the input. GTG is a good method for improving any skill, but it doesn't fit my daily life and mentality. I prefer blocks of training. So I was thinking of keeping the light, medium and heavy days from my current program and then doing high rep (5x20) push ups, squats and knee-/leg raises on off days, for the next 6 weeks on the OAOLPU program by Karen Smith. A 6-Week Program to Master the OA/OAOL Push-up | StrongFirst
Might also do Pistol Squats on OAOLPU days.

Hello,

Here are pretty interesting articles about Frank Zine's ab training. This is right in the topic here because he seemed to train them using high volume and high frequency, with easy variations:
Push-Ups – Their history, Beneficial Effects, Types and Potential Risks
Transform Your Abs & Upper Quads with Frank Zane's Training Secrets! - Frank Zane - 3X Mr. Olympia
Back then, he was relatively strong as well.

@somanaut
I understand ! Sometimes, even if we feel fresh and we'd want to do some reps, we cannot due to work or whatever. It can be kind of frustrating. Plus, I admit that sometimes this is good to say "I did my workout, now I am free". It really depends on the people and the context I guess.

Kind regards,

In a related Batman villian note, Mr. Zsasz practices isometrics up to 16 hours a day in his cell and that’s how he’s capable of going toe to toe with Batman.

Hmm, on a related real life note, I don't know anything about batman, but I wonder whether this Mr Zasz you talk about is based on Alexander Zass, who was a big fan of practising isometrics in his prison cell as a POW in WWI . He allegedly broke free by bending the bars - four times.
