Hi,

I need to buy this book and wondered if the book shows you how to do the movements for the required exercises in picture format? I did a course ages ago, but its been so long I would need aomething to trigger my memory especially for russian getup.

And wasnt th book under $10 before? Its $18 now if im reading it right.

The book does show pictures, but to be honest I preferred the SF youtube channel for learning the movements, along with the descriptions in the book. I also liked Geoff Neupert big 6

Agree with Kozushi. I have been doing it since December of 2016. Great program. The book and videos are good but if there is an SFG in your area might be worth meeting with them for an hour and learning the movements again. That’s what I did when I started. I still meet with him once a month usually just to make sure nothing is out of whack. The price of the book fluctuates on amazon routinely as well.

Absolutely. There is no substitute for immediate knowledgeable feedback. You simply cannot substitute for being taught properly and having any deficiencies noticed and properly corrected.

A lot of my "SFGing" has been correcting mistakes implanted by unqualified people giving poor instruction.

Yeah SFG is well worth it. I could already swings and gu a 32 before seeing one. they made 32 TGU go from "ugg so this really hard" to "huh this is like not as hard" and playing with a 36. knowledgeable coach well worth it.
Owning a copy of however S&S got me to simple standard, so its also worth price of admission. breathing section allone is priceless.

Good point about the breathing section.

Thanks for that. I paid for S&S on amazon. Now waiting to get it.

I just had a read here - Sinister | StrongFirst

You need to complete 100swings in 5min and 10 getups in 10 min.

What confuses me is the way its written out.

Is that 100 swings (10x10) per arm? Meaning... left hand swing x10, right hand swing x10, that = 1. 9 more to go? (100 each hand total)?

If that is the case... then whats with the getups?

Says 10... so I assume meaning the same thing, 10 left arm, 10 right arm... but if each getup is performed on the minute... thats 10 minutes for 10 getups, which is only 5 left 5 right, not 10 each side as that would be 20min....

Thats where I was a bit lost.

Nope it’s 1H swings 10-right then 10-left & so forth until 100 combined total, in 5mins, so 50 each hand. Note: 5mins is the goal not the everyday training time.
GU are 10 total, 5-right, 5-left in 10mins. Alternate these- right-left-right-left-right etc. Again 10mins is the goal not everyday training time.
Take as long as needed to do the routine with the best form you got. Strong, powerful swings & smooth, strong GU’s. when you’re feeling strong & energetic grab the stopwatch & test to see how close you get to the standards. Don’t rush & enjoy.

@G-man : Welcome!

I would advise you to read and re-read the book a couple of times. I have even bought the audio book from audible. The writing is really concise and it is easy to miss some clues, especially at the beginning.

As for learning the swing, I would recommend the on-demand course "Mastering the HardStyle Kettlebell Swing" from Mark and Tracy Reifkind. It's got a lot of drills and progressions. Simple and Sinister has a "prep phase" where you are supposed to practice the movements until they are solid before you start the real program. For this purpose the Reifkind vid is awesome. And pretty affordable, too.

As for the Get-Up: Take your time. Delaine Ross has a lot of great info: http://trainwithdelaine.com
And there is this brilliant article series from Zack Henderson:
Turkish Get-Up | Strength Secrets Revealed - Zack Henderson Training
Turkish Get-Up Tips From the Pros (Pt. 2) - Zack Henderson Training

Other than that, search the forum a little everyday, you will find most of your questions already answered by respected and experienced gireviks.
