Goblet Squats 3 x 5 x 20 kg

Soju & Tuba 3 x 2/2 x 32 kg
Bent Over Rows 3 x 5/5 x 32 kg

That was a great session. I should have split the work between the 28 kg & the 32 kg, but I decided to challenge myself after the sub-par session last night. Much better session tonight, from start to finish. I took a little more time to recover between sets, but I still only took 30 minutes from the first Halo to the last Bent Over Row.

Solid session this morning. However, I only had enough in me to do the pressing. The 32 kg is still a heavy kettlebell, but I am getting used to pressing it. I am hoping to finish the program using it, but I won't be to proud to drop back down to the 28 kg if the 32 kg gets to be too much.

Much better session today. I took a little more time between sets and that made a huge difference in my work today. It is funny how I got so wrapped up in making progress, that I forgot about slowing down. Good lesson learned today.

Lots of mobility work today, it was needed. I dropped down to the 28 kg for pressing tonight, and it felt good. The whole night was a change up, and it felt pretty good to change up my warm up routine.

Wasn't feeling it tonight. Tough day mentally today, and physically apparently, because I wasn't working with the 24 kg tonight. The 20 kg was still a challenge, but a successful one. The session was a long one due to needing more rest between sets. Tomorrow should be a better day.

I have read on here many times about people training in a fasted state. Then I read this on the Livestrong.com page about workout mistakes:

You Exercise on an Empty Stomach
Working out on an empty stomach not only does not burn more fat, as many believe, but it likely sabotages your efforts by zapping your energy, Goodson says. “Consuming a pre-workout snack actually gives you energy by fueling your workout,” Goodson says. “If your car is almost out of gas, it's not going to go very far. Same with your body.” Here are a few complex carb and protein options: apple and string cheese, a slice of wheat bread with one tablespoon of peanut butter, a whole grain granola bar and handful of almonds or a protein bar. If you train early in the morning, be sure to choose a small snack like a banana, granola bar, protein bar or peanut butter crackers.

Do you think that the type of training has any bearing on this?

I am thinking that training strength, power, strength endurance, or endurance might have different relationships to training fasted or not.

I do many things at zero dark thirty... I train fasted doing S&S much of the time, and think nothing of it. But I wouldn't dream of going on a 3hr training ride without stuffing something down my pie hole...

Thoughts?

I train fasted most days and would say that I do not have a problem.

I think sleep is a bigger issue than an empty stomach. Lack of sleep is a real problem in my opinion

I have trained in a fasted state, I usually do so every weekend. My take is that if you are training endurance, you may need assistance, if you were doing a 3 hour training ride. But, with multiple examples on here of strength/endurance training, S&S/Soju & Tuba, and other protocols, that this type of training can be done in a fasted state. It is the longer endurance sessions that may require the addition of some fuel to accomplish.

Good strong session tonight. Everything felt really sharp and strong from start to finish. Which was amazing since I have been lacking energy all damn week.

I have been thinking of adding the Strength Aerobics program, "The Strength Aerobics Circuit for Conditioning" to my work, but I don't want to give up the S&T work. I may just put the pressing on hold and try this for a couple sessions. Decisions, decisions, decisions.....

Happy Friday!!!

Challenge day today. Besides the 2HS with the 32kg, I pressed the 32kg 5 times with both arms before doing my get ups. I took some extra rest between sets of the swings, and they felt great. It is an amazing feeling to find the float with a 32 kg kettlebell.

Have a strong weekend!

July 1

Soju & Tuba 3 x 2 x 32 kg, 4 x 2 x 28 kg

It has been a very busy day. Lots of moving things, and staying loose all day. So, I just went down & pressed the kettlebells. Short & sweet, took about 20 minutes with rest. I should have done some warm up exercises, but I just didn't have a lot of time, and I still had things to do, so press & go I went. I felt great afterwards.

Strong session tonight, everything was sharp and strong from start to finish. I went EMOM on the swings, and needed a little more rest before the get ups, but I needed to push myself somewhat. My get ups were solid, no waver at all. I was happy with how this session went.

Good session tonight. I love how this program energizes me when I am done. I may have to start doing bent over rows if this keeps up! Time to prepare for rugby practice.
