Kettlebell Big difference between get-up and swing weights?

For me I found the standards of the get up easier than the swing. With 32kg, 5x1 get ups in 10 minutes was easier to achieve for me than 10x10 one arm swings in 5 minutes (I actually never met that goal, don't tell anyone though). For me its the conditioning that was tougher than the strength.

Me too. I'm still in the process of getting used to swinging a 32kg with one hand but I'm hitting the 'on the minute' standard for get-ups every time I train. I suppose I could go heavier with the get-ups but I'd like to hit simple first and then decide whether I want to set my sights on sinister or tackle the Rite of Passage.

If you perform swings and get-ups, do you use very different weights for those actions (e.g., 32-kg swings and 12-kg get-ups, or vice versa)? If so, why?

(I have a large torso and bulky, but not strong, muscles, so I carry a lot of useless weight. This makes get-ups much harder for me than swings.)
Im struggling a bit with this. 30 years of endurance sports + STRONG lower body (grip is ok). so 1 arm 24kg swings all day. but im stuck at 16kg TGU (with a 20kg on a good day). sport has taught 1 thing though...keeping putting in the work. it will work out.

Hey Kurt,
How many sessions of S&S per week? I made great progress at 5-6... I'm assuming you're at least in your late 40's? I did well on the program in my late 50's so I don't think it's an age thing...

nah you got it exactly...more frequency this winter will cure me. Im at like 2-3 solid sessions. but I do lots of other stuff in the summer (run, bike, etc). This winter I will attack it.
