Push ups throughout day 3x20
10 minute session of bottoms up presses, squats, and carries with 16kg
A few bottoms up presses with 24kg later

Yesterday turned out to busier than expected but I was able to get in little spurts of activity when I had the time. It turned out to be really enjoyable! I definitely want to start doing more bottoms up work.

It felt so refreshing to be jogging out on a cold clear day. I love this time of year.
I do too, despite the stupid runny nose. Where do you live? I'm in Chicagoland, and my last several runs have been in freezing temps. It's deceiving; when you run in cold it seems like you're not running as hard but then you check the HR monitor/GPS after the run and you accidentally set a new min/mile PR.

It's nice running in the cold, as the paths are far less crowded as people are scared of the cold.

I live just outside of Portland, OR. It really is crazy how much easier it feels and I hear you on the runny nose but fortunately it isn’t that cold yet here. I am also happy with how much better snatching is in the cold. No more chalky-sweat solution lining my fingers after a hard set. Training outside in the cold dry air really keeps your hands dry!

Plan 044B week 2 day 3 32kg
1A press 32kg 3x3
Some jump roping

-I just realized that I have a good place to jump rope now (I didn’t where I was previously living) so I decided to end my session with some. I really enjoyed it and will have to use it more often. Felt great!

Update: I tweaked my back over a week ago in snatches. I could feel the volume catching up to me and I still started the workout (my fault). 3 snatches in, my back was hurting and stiffened up so I stopped the training session.

So I decided to take some time off from snatching considering I have been doing it weekly for over a year. I still trained this last week but didn’t do any ballistics. I’m now focusing on the double press, double front squat, and kettlebell swing for my main movements and also doing some hypertrophy assistance work. I’ve also started using CoC grippers again and am really enjoying them! I will try to update this a little bit more but finals start next week so we’ll see haha.

Greetings Noah. I've been thinking about starting an A+A snatch program. As you have been doing snatches for a year, can you give us a summary of some of the benefits you feel you gained from the year of snatching?

You should consider making it a post over on the main discussion forum.

It’s hard to capture everything but here are some observations of my experience. It is not a “get rich quick scheme” style of training and thus does not provide rapid results. However, I did continue to improve consistently over the course of the year. My technique improved tremendously and I pretty much never get a blister anymore unless I continue to go well past my body’s warning signals. My snatch strength and power has improved tremendously without a doubt (snatching 36kg for 20-30+ repeats would be a normal workload right now compared to using the 28k a year ago). Overall aerobic endurance definitely improved too. carryover to other lifts seemed fairly average, and it did not improve my military press as some have reported. Overall, I like it as a more relaxed style of training but the with the investment of time put in, I go back on forth on how much I think it’s worth it. I think the biggest thing is that if you enjoy kettlebell snatches and simplicity in your training and are ok with letting other lifts stay as they are, it could be a good choice.

You are spot on with double swings - when I did them while ago,
as a part of the G. Neupert's programms, I loved them.

S&T with doubles seemed to work well for you, that's also cool.
Might try it sometimes too!

Yes, S&T worked great for a 2nd time! I think I am going to embark on some high volume pressing ladders as a contrast.

11-30-18
Double press 2x32kg 5x(1,2,3)
1A row 36kg 3x8
Towel bicep curl 32kg 3x5
Push ups 2x15
-probably will drop down to a single 32kg if I continue with the rest of this pressing program cause this was pretty tough for a first session.

12-4-18
1A press 32kg 6 x(1,2,3)
CoC grippers: 7 singles with the #1 CCS
Captains of Crush gripper baseline testing
-3 attempts with the 1.5 and I closed it 2 out of 3 times with each hand!
Kettlebell curl 32kg 3x8
Push up 2x10
1A row 32kg 2x10

Super happy to have closed the 1.5 from a credit card set on each side! I honestly was surprised to get it on the right side let alone the left. It definitely wasn't the most convincing close but within a couple weeks, I'm sure I will be closing it every time!
