Hello,

So, as with a lot,of you, I find myself with a lot of time at home. Thank god for mý kettlebell!

I am working from home and my kettlebell is right there. On a good day I can do 5 reps each hand with it. On average my sessions are 3x3.

I am thinking of doing GTG for the next couple of weeks (lockdown here just got extended) what would be a solid number? Would doing a single rep 5 times through the day be enough to make progress?

This would be 5 reps through the day and then the full 3x3 on pressing days

Or does GTG need more stimulus than a single rep to be effective?

Thanks in advance, I hope you are all keeping safe in these crazy times

Hello,

@FinlayB
what would be a solid number?
Regarding GTG, there is not an absolute number...unfortunately. Indeed, this is all based on both your recovery abilities and also the initial volume you can perform (and recover from)

Most of the time, the rule is:
A = total number of reps
B = A/2

Then you do multiple sets of B number, throughout the day. The "rule" is just to be sure to be able to end the set with perfect form. You always attack a set perfectly fresh. Basically, on a weekly basis, the total volume using GTG is superior to most of the regular strength routines.

Kind regards,

I went from zero to 70 reps of pullups during my first week of gtg. Dont be that guy. Start easy. Unfortunately I dont listens to my own advice ?

I presume you are talking about kettlebell press, and a kettlebell that you can press 5 times in a row, both on your right and left. If so, then:

Do sets of 2-3 reps, with 15+ minutes between the sets, throughout the day.
Practice 2-3 days in a row, then have 1 day rest.
Vary the volume - at least 20% difference between the training days. Some days will be a bit harder, some very easy. Good.
After 1 month retest your rep max and report.

I follow simple guidline: 50%RM or less. i.e. I do Pushups in GTG form. My RM is 40, so I do sets of 20 reps. The number of reps vary from 8 to 10 sets. I toss a coin to estimate that number, if heads, than I do 10 sets, if tails - 8 sets.
