Hello All,
I'm a 30-year-old male(still feel like I'm 18). I've been training for a bit over two years now, mainly at the gym doing the typical barbell stuff. I was inspired after reading some conversations on Instagram about StrongFirst and KB training. Since Covid has everything all messed up and all the gyms is closed. I decided to purchase an 18 KG KB (the only one I could find in a 20-25 mile radius for a reasonable price) and the book Simple and Sinister, which I must say is a great book. It's very simple and easy to read. I love the quotes at the beginning of every chapter. I'm about 40% into the book since I purchased it on Sunday. I've progressively following along while working on my KB Deadlifts, KB Hikes and TGU.

Please let me know what you think about my form. I didn't have anything for my iPad to stand on so I was only able to record it from the ground level. I would really appreciate any feedback on it. Thank you so much!

Let's get strong and keep building!
Best,

Look at the ground about 10-15 feet in front of you - you look like you're finishing with your hips but not with your upper body.

Move quickly and explosively to the standing position, like you're doing a vertical jump. You're waiting for the kettlebell to go up and moving with it. Your body should lead -- get to the plank QUICK! Then the kettlebell follows. It will feel like you're throwing it. Same thing on the descent... hold the plank position as the bell falls, then quickly move to hinge position.

As @Pavel Macek describes, the swing is a 4 part movement, not a 2-part movement.

@PepermintPatty, welcome to the StrongFirst forum.

Thanks!! Excited to be a part of the KB community!

I'd like to see your kettlebell deadlift if possible

I forgot to record my kettlebell deadlift but here's one when I was playing around with a kettlebell at my gym.

Thanks for the video. I've been thinking about the 4 part movement, and imaging my body as a clock.

Here is my form now:

Maybe not the first swing because I was thinking about all the movements and cues before doing it LOL.

Good improvement! You're on the right track. I think you're ready for a heavier kettlebell. I would suggest more heavier 2H swings before moving to 1H swings.

I see some improvement..

Let's work on one thing..

Let the arms guide the kettlebell on the way down and only move the hips once your arms connect to your torso

Thanks! Yup, I'd be moving up soon but I'm going to try to progress into a 10x10 first. I'm so focused on form and breathing that I gotta remind myself to count my reps, cause once I'm in rhythm, I feel like I can keep going!

Great reminder! Thanks :)

Thank you, @PepermintPatty. Don't forget that we are the Strength Community and not just the kettlebell community - we love our kettlebells but that's because they help us get stronger.
