pretty self explanatory, just curious to know what would be your ideal training routine, down to whether you do it day time or at night, here's my take:
personally It would be an easy strength type routine, in the afternoon after some morning stretching, followed by some cold water exposure, I like working out nearly every day, mixing in with cycling, swimming and rock climbing a couple times a week.
how bout you guys?

Sounds pretty much my life for the past 40 years or so.... cycling, climbing, running, training most days...

that's very nice!

Morning vinyasa yoga. A couple hours on the trails, in the waves, or on the ski hill, followed by some hammock time. ES, DMPM, or a complex followed by some qigong. A cold one.

Repeat ad infinitum
I take it "a cold one" doesn't quite refer to a shower amirite? haha

awesome that you've got nature around you, I've been interested in trying quigong for a while, just there's so much you can do it's hard to pinpoint something and commit to it, I'm currently wrestling with ROP myself.

Wake up refreshed after nine hours of sleep. Lounge about. Have a good breakfast, mostly carbs and protein. Drink copious amounts of coffee. Go train. Hit a pressing exercise well, then a big accessory lift, then a couple of isolation exercises. Take a break of half an hour so, eat something, drink lots of coffee, rest a bit. Then have a similar bout with the lower body. Afterwards go for a big lunch. Then go home and have a good nap. In the evening some stretching, massage and a sauna with cold showers.

I'm weird.

My training is dictated by goals I'm trying to achieve.

So my ideal routine is whatever my goals are for that training cycle.

The only preference variable is really time of day and which days of the week.
That’s not weird at all...
To be effective, training should be harmonized with ones goals.

Nice, goals are great, for me currently is pressing the 25kg KB 5 times each side, do you have any specific reasoning behind wich goals you set?

Not directed to me but....
For me goals are things like... The Becky Chouinard route on South Howser Tower, or The North Face of Edith Cavell, or The Barry-Roubaix gravel ride, or The Triple Bypass ride, or the Leadville 100 and the like.

Training is just stuff to help get you there...

Easy mobility in the morning: OS resets, Sun salutations, gentle Yoga stuff...

Followed by...

Easy run in the woods: a forty five to sixty minutes extremely easy run (Maffetone or Niko-Niko style).

Easy strength in the afternoon: three lifts, three sets, three reps and three minute rests.

Easy rolling in the evening: sparring as relaxed as I can, relying on pure technique, no matter how many times I have to tap (easier said than done).

Or...

A long, slow paced hike (preferably alone), then enjoying a hot, strong coffee from my thermos, do some easy bouldering and a nap in my hammock.

Do something powerful - something that makes it feels like my body is light, like I could propel it quickly in any direction I wanted.

Then do something strong - take a weight that was intimidating yesterday, move it confidently. Let loose a good roar at some point.

Then let go of the tension - feel like all the muscles got used, and none of them are complaining about it.

When done, feel like I could do it all again if I wanted to. But don't. Go eat tacos and drink margaritas instead.

That'd be ideal.

That’s my Fantasy Island. While I’m definitely in the forest, any of those activities require quite a drive, and the virus has quashed it anyway. So garage training, rucking with the dogs and gardening are the reality.

For qigong, check out the Eight Pieces of Brocade. Different translations of the name, slightly different styles, doesn’t matter. It’s the breathing and focus that matters

I see, I'm in a similar situation, I'm near nature altrough I don't get to enjoy it as much lately, but it's really on me, I could go out, it's just that I've felt so isolated lately that all I want to do is stay in and tend to my garden and train and look at youtube... oh well, whatcanyado.

I'll check that out, thanks!
