I always find amazing how a seven second video can be the outcome of a lifetime of dedication. I'll be extremely happy the day I can deadlift that much.

Well, he is only 26 yrs old (almost 27), so he has a lifetime yet ahead to conquer new things. But yes, he has worked hard for those seconds!

Looks like his most recent miss in a major competition was from the 2018 European Championships in Romania. Having secured first place with a 210kg/463lbs snatch, he went for 221kg/487lbs to break the record and was very close indeed:

His technique is incredibly consistent; had he been able to get the bar just an inch higher (if that) he would have made that lift no problem.

I wonder how much of that could have been the fact that it was a 4th attempt - all the mental pressure of competition is off, just get to go out and be awesome.

The rest of the world must just feel like it's made of marshmallows when you have that kind of strength...

I wonder how many NFL teams have contacted him.

Possibly some other sports may have tried to poach him while he was still a youth lifter but he's pretty much become the undisputed master (historic anti-doping rule violations notwithstanding) of his chosen sport and to go from that to a novice in a different sport (a novice with outstanding potential, but a novice nonetheless) can't hold much appeal for someone who's as competitive as Lasha is.

It's fun to speculate what would be possible if you could take a physical specimen like that and 'reprogram' their brain to see how they'd do at boxing, football, rugby etc.
