One mile with a 24 heat check #2. My .25mile lap in front yard too muddy, so warm up was a carry to Phx canal system.
702a, warm up, carry .62 miles without stopping, 10:40 mins, set down and rest for around 5 min.
718a, 1.02 miles 14:52, set bell down at turn , around 5:50 for .47, heading back, sweat on hands ( 90d,40hum) and losing grip forced several stops and some walking.
735a, heading back home, .56 miles, 11:01, hands smoked, several stops.

Hands were fine with a 1800 m carry with a 32 several months back. Not going to warm up with a .62 carry again.
Resting HR this am 35,highest HR of 186 hit on .56 walk home.

Part #4 this am. Back spasms since Wed. am, so a bit different today. Have found in past that carries often help back issues.
StrongFirst Mobility + 1mile jog + 1mile carry (walking) with 53lb + 1mile jog, carry was in 16:05 and continuous.
Managed to untie my board-shorts during 3rd lap ( switching bell back and forth ) so the end was a clown show of bell in 1 hand and holding shorts in the other with a real quick hand switch in between.
In the past I would do my carries in 100m shuttle style, usually once a month, up to 2400m with a 24. I thought the laps would be easier, since no stopping and starting at the turn. I think the laps are more difficult. ??

Interesting, I used to be mile runner. What strength category would this be, strength endurance?

Sounds about right. Goal is under 10:00 min. with a 24kg. Will take some strength, will take some endurance. I like to be able to do things without practicing them much, so one day a week I've been practicing versions of 1 mile with a 24. Keeping my training basically the same other than not smoking my legs 1-2 days prior to carry session.

Gave this a shot this evening based on the recent article by Mike Prevost. What a fantastic challenge. I only have a 32kg at my disposable. 15.55 was my time. The hardest thing was grip strength towards the end. I was sweating loads and it felt like I was constantly changing hands. It certainly made my evening dog walk more challenging than normal and I'll definitely be repeating.

**UPDATE** I am super stiff this morning, all over, everywhere. Not injured, just like I've had a really good workout. I think due to being the first time I've ever tried this sort of exercise.

Right out of the gate, taking a 32 for a walk Well earned soreness and will make a 24 seem light.

@Don Fairbanks I was sore in places that don't normally get sore. The joints between my fingers, my wrists, my ankles, all around my neck? My toes! Hips too, towards the end, it felt like I was constantly changing hands, on a couple of occasions I passed the bell round my body in big circles to see if movement would lesson the tension. It did for a bit. I'm exchanging the 32 for a 24 next week as I only borrow bells from a friend. (I'm doing The Red Zone by Pavel) and finding the 32 too much for me to keep up consistency. I'll be giving the 24 a mile run for sure.

True story, head to toe work being done with the 1 mile KB. Looking forward to your post after the mile with the 24.

I’m pumped for this! I’m a little nervous to take the 24k out first try. I’m coming off of hitting timed simple and program hoping for a bit/testing carryover so i may just have to! Starting marathon training next week so i thinkni could maybe work in lighter loads in the earlier weeks of training as well.

Do y’all usually go barefoot/minimalist, or bust out the cushies for this one?

Results: around 19 minutes (19:17) without breaks or stopping. The first half i walked pretty slow thinking i would take it easy the first time out.... Then my grip started to fail around .5, and i said “WTH was i thinking!?” I then started running. Was pretty pleased with my grip holding up though, was a little scared of the 24k
