Tuesday night I decided to just take the night off completely. Taking the night off ended up feeling so satisfying, I ended up taking Wednesday and Thursday off too. Friday rolled around, time to get back to work.

- Ave HR 162, max 193

A real race! With people to chase down and everything! Not an awesome time, but not bad either- had fun.

That's the highest HR I've recorded since getting a HR monitor. Not sure if that's good or bad... either I've got the heart of a younger man, or it's going to explode eventually.
I don’t know how old you are,(40’s?) but 193 doesn’t seem too unreasonable.

45 (and sadly it took me a minute or two of thinking to make sure I remembered what year I was born and what year it currently is ?). Just seems like I run higher than most of the max HR estimator equations that Google finds - but, of course, those are notoriously inaccurate.

I have a friend (yes its true) and she is a few years older than you and has an HRMax of close to 200. Yes. A lot higher than most folks (in most age groups), but she has been checked out by a cardiologist and that’s just where hers is at. We are all different, and as you say those calculators are inaccurate.
The only way to know for sure is to test it.

Hey Dr. Banner… it’s been a minute…. Everything okay up in CO?
Yeah, thanks for checking in... it's just been a lot lately. My oldest started high school this week. My youngest started middle school. Softball and baseball are both ramping up. Training has definitely taken a back seat. I'm having to redefine what I'm doing. Haven't got it figured out yet, but I'll get there.

Man, feels like I'm back at square one with some of this stuff. ? Lats were pretty sore for Saturday's pull-up session, and deadlift was tough. Right knee was a little cranky througout. Just having to figure out where to pull energy from with all the life changes lately.

Evening baseball practice, no training. This is kind of what things will look like for a while - get in some mobility work + running every morning I can, and evening strength grinds will come on days when I don't have practice with the team.

There's something to be said for a minimal training format, it keeps you within easy reach of higher fitness levels while maintaining a comfort and confidence level you wouldn't have without it. It's a great tool for the family man when the life road gets bumpy. ?

My joints felt keenly aware that this is the first time I've run 4 days in a row in a very long time. Opted to take Friday off and sleep in.
