I can do significantly more weight on a 2-arm swing.
And if I use the competition kettlebells with the narrower handles, then I can do a little more than on iron kettlebells on the 1-hand swing.

Is this wrong?
Meaning should I be able to do the same weight on both kinds of swings because my back/legs SHOULD be doing the work vs. my grip strength limiting me?

Competition bells tend to have a handle that's smaller in diameter than cast iron bells, so for most people will be easier to grip. Think of it like hanging from a pull up bar vs using fat grips

You Got It Right

Performing one hand swing overload hand grip and involves more stabilizer muscles.

Performing two hand swings overload more of the primare muscle in the movement to a greater degree; back and legs,'

Hand grip and stabilizer muscle are less involved.

Perfectly normal to be able to handle more weight on the 2-hand swing than the 1-hand swing.

Yes, that's why the stepped progression in the s&s book uses the 2H as the cornerstone, gradually removing as the body gets ued to more 1H at the weight.

I personally feel more tired after a 2H session than after a 1H one.

overspeed eccentric 2-handed swings with the 32kg bell get me every time. that cuts deep.

Here's a perspective I can share..

Build your hip drive with 2h swings so your 1h swings become stronger...

The 2h swing is a great choice if you plan to work up to sinister since you can use it to introduce the heavier bell

OK glad to hear all these responses. Also of note is how different the 2 moves feel. I'm getting much more upper back work in the 1-arm.

100%. All of the sudden the load that was shared by two hands, two arms, and your whole back is now placed on one hand, one arm, and half your back. The first time I did 10 one-hand swings with the 48kg I went "Oh THERE are my lats!"
