Kettlebell Geoff Neupert asks for beta testers for THE GiANT X and KETTLEBELL MAXIMORUM

Week 2 in the bag. Other than a torn callus snatching ( big palms and short fingers) it went smoothly. Gloves allowed me to carry on. Never snatched a 28kg before and now doing over 50 per arm per session. Thought about doubling up the squats but demanded too much recovery to get enough c+p volume for my liking.

I have found that in doing a "Geoff Program " involving clean and presses and front squats using heavier bells for front squats was detrimental. Reason.....the holding of the heavier bells in the rack fir front squats added significantly to my shoulder fatigue which had an effect (or is it 'affect') on my presses. This in particular when you alternate between clean and presses and front squats. Using the same bells in my case still yielded overall gains.
I can completely relate to this because the 5RM DCP for me is 2x32kg and this just beats my shoulders up real good. Also I have to be completely faithful to his programming, i.e. take rest when he says take rest and on that day DO NO PRESSING MOVEMENTS. PERIOD. Otherwise this just beats me up real good. I have learnt it the hard way unfortunately ! I was doing all this and i was also doing some form of pull-ups/chin-ups and this just wasn’t a good idea.

I am giving my body a bit of a break now and I am recovering from it. So will look to get back to it fresh. Snatches are not that big of a problem, the DCPs with 2x32 .. thats what gets me. FSQs are ok as well. I can easily manage doing the doubles but I want to be conservative.

@Geoff Neupert What do you think about starting Maximorum with a 4RM weight for the C&P? That would be 2x24kg in my case (dropping down to 2x20kg puts me more in the 10RM range). Give it shot, or keep training to get that to a 5RM first?

Since picking up the beta program, I've been training C&P with 2x24kg 3 days a week, doing mostly sets of 1 or 2 reps and slowly increasing the volume. I'm happy to keep doing that for a few more weeks until I reach a 5RM, but I also want to be mindful of starting the program in a timely fashion for getting you beta testing feedback.

Squatting 2x24kg is no problem (+10RM), and my snatch 10RM is 28kg, so I'm ready to go on those lifts.

Not geoff but having learned from him over the years what I'd recommend is this..

Run strong ph1 first with that pair of bells to give you a strength buffer for maximorum

You want a 5trm and not an absolute 5rm given you'll be accumulating a lot of volume on the plan

Hi all,
I'm also on the Maximorum-train :)

I tested last Sunday:
  • Double C&P 40kg's: 5 reps (RPE 9)
  • Double FSQ 40kg's: 5 reps (RPE 8)
  • Left arm snatch 32kg: 10 reps (RPE 8)
  • Right arm snatch 32kg: 10 reps (RPE 7)
I've never combined C&P and DFSQ before, and dang that first workout was tough on the core!
NL for C&P were only 14 reps and 13 reps for DBFSQ but now, two days after the workout I'm still sore in the core and legs!

Very curious for the results in 6 - 12 weeks!
Best of luck to the other guinea pigs ;)!!

Wow. You’re an absolute beast. Here I am feeling good about my double 24s for C&P and FSQ! Can’t wait to see what your results are after this!

Glad to see you're still kicking! :)

Merely trying :D!

Not at all! Just a C&P nut for many years! I'm still searching and going for that classic-Greek-statue look as Pavel described in Enter the Kettlebell :D
I also started with a single 16kg kb some years ago, so double 24s are great!!

Again with my unsolicited 2 cents...obviously I'm not Geoff but....

Having done many Neupert Programs and being one of his beta testing "guineapigs" on more than one occasion I feel I can give some advice on his 5 RM recommendation. I've learned that when he says use a 5 RM, it means a 5 RM wherein you remain strict in form. I usually take that to mean I may have another "ugly rep or two" in the tank but I wouldn't attempt it. In other words, using a 4 RM in this case wouldn't be advised.

Week 2 down for me as well for Maximorum. It's a really fun protocol. I was aimlessly alternating heavy Jerk aerobics (ala Kettlebells Strongfirst) with Snatch aerobics (ala Al Ciampa) 3 times per week, but this has more structure and an actual progression, so I'm looking forward to the results. Is anyone adjusting diet during this program? I'm trying not to mess with diet too much (other than quantity as dictated by appetite) so any results demonstrate the program effectiveness rather than a mix of program + diet. Apologies if this was already mentioned previous in the thread.

This week off of training has been rough lol. But sometimes getting sick is the only thing that forces me to actually take a rest week. Hoping to get back to it Monday but I’m not sure if I should roll into week 3 or start over.

Good question.

I think it'd be too tough and there's a good chance you could burn out.

I'd rather have you do this and wait 2-3 weeks to start the program, then change the parameters and not be able to complete it as written.

Good. Add those to the mix and just practice your "groove" in a non-fatiguing way.

Hi all. I’m a noob here but have been cross training with kb since 2013 as a trail runner. I am working my shoulders back up from an injury and still a bit light. When I got Geoff’s latest promo for this I signed up. Looking for advice.

1. I’m doing giant x 1.0, 2x12kb since it says 10RM. My 2x16kb is about 9RM for press and I’m not ready yet. So, I just finished week 2. I don’t really know what to log. How do you track your results? I’ve been logging like this:

Sat 3 (week 2 light day)
345 1 min rest 2x12 1 minute extra each rep
6 full sets

2. Am I resting too long? Too short? I have no idea.

3. Can I do other programs while doing giant or is the idea to only do this and only this for 8 weeks? How do you all work other areas while doing this too?

As you can tell I’m not a bodybuilder and don’t know anything so I won’t take any criticism personally — thanks much in advance.
