Holy s**t! That's a lot of volume!! On week 3 day 1 I managed to do 60 reps. You are a beast!!

Hey gang,
Good thread. I’m wrapping up week three so I’ll join in.
I’m 42, 5’10”, 165 lbs. Started training with KBs a year ago, reached Timeless Simple in June, then did RoP with a 20 kg bell, then did Giant 1.0 with 2x20s, then did a 3 week Pat Flynn program that focused on double C&P and FSQ just before starting Maximorum. I’m doing the snatches with a 24 kg bell and the C&P and FSQ with 2x24s.
Week 1, day 1 I did 90 total snatches (45 per arm).
Week 1, day 2 I did 19 total presses and 19 squats (38 cleans).
Week 3, day 4, I did 140 total snatches (70 per arm).
Week 3, day 5 I did 42 presses and 42 squats (56 cleans) .
I’m happy with that progress, but my RPE the last two sessions was getting pretty close to 9.

I think I have to start over. Finals are killing me. I haven't made the time in a week and a half. Not sick or anything just stressed and trying to study. I got halfway through week3,

I am going to be starting in a week, but was interested in a couple things.

How are you guys organizing your days, are you doing On-Off-On-Off-On-On-Off? Or On-On-Off-On -On-Off-Off? I feel like the first option is better when’re you never me have more than one day off in a row, but I also see a benefit to 2 days off in a row.

Also, maybe I missed it, but is it a clean for every press, ore one clean per set?

1C for every 1P and on on off on on off off. This is the way.

Great numbers and a very high RPE. Seems like the program was designed to get to higher rpe in the second phase with the first phase being more like A+A work. So naturally when the sets get larger so should the recovery time. With that said it seems like GN also is allowing for a wide range of approaches though specifying preference. That's a ton of hard work you've done and a great first post. Kudos and welcome bro!

50-year-old male - 5'10" / 162 lbs.
Snatch: 24 kg (12 RM)
DCP & FSQ - 24 & 20 kg (4 RM)

This year I have mostly done clean & press and clean & jerk, including Strong with 20&16 kg, Strong phase 1 with 24&16 kg, and the Kettlebell Express version of RMF with 28 & 24 kg.

I haven't snatched for about a year and half due to a shoulder injury that made catching the bell painful. I was surprised to get 12 reps when I tested the 24. I'm enjoying getting back to the snatch and I feel like this is best I've ever done it.

I'm in week three. Snatch has gone from 36 reps to 54. Press from 14 to 27.

I'm worried that week 4 will make me regret choosing a 4 RM for the press.

Heyho Maximorum Crew!

A little late to the party due to Cov-19..
I would like to get an opinion / report from people who do the program while still doing their sports. Namely the Martial Artists in here.
I thought of taking a day off from Maximorum when training Muay Thai which leaves me with a schedule that would look like:

KB-Max / MT / KB-Max / MT / KB-Max / KB-Max / weekend

To give KB-Max the attention it deserves it's best to not come home from kicking the heavy bag and clinchwork before going onto day2 @conor78 & @BJJ Shawn how does the combination of MA and KB-Max feel for you aftera few days/weeks

As my take would equals "not following the program was written" I would also highly appreciate your two cents @Geoff Neupert

Edit: I just saw @conor78 kind of answered my question..

I haven’t started yet, will be starting next week, but I have been doing a lot of high frequency plans and I don’t think it will be a problem for me personally. I find it easier to bunch my practices on the same day, with strength practices in the morning and BJJ at night, then taking a rest day the following day.

I asked Geoff about adding BJJ practice to the program and he cleared it, but I am currently only doing it twice a week and never getting too intense right now, more just technique practice with only like 15-20 minutes sparring.

I generally try to make Day 5 (4th training day) land on a Saturday which gives me Sunday to recover and go again on Monday. For grappling I’d say strength in the movements trained carry over to the MA, particularly with grip strength.
The auto regulation element helps here. If I’m feeling sluggish I just increase rest periods but keep the focus on technique, basically workout is a practice idea…
I trained MT years ago.. my shins are still sore:)

Since it's a Beta Test, I'd like it run as written before "modifying" it. Therefore, do the best you can to follow the 4 day sequence: 1-On, 2-On, 3-Off, 4-On, 5-On, 6&7-Off.

Thanks.

Week 4, 2nd snatch day with 28 kg.
61 reps per arm. last couple of times have been 60 reps/arm. RPE 9-10. DCP/FSQ also at a plateau and plan for RPE 10 workout tomorrow. I think week 5 will be a de-load (volume, not weight) week.

I'll be starting week 2 tomorrow, that is for starting this thread.

38 yo, 6'1", 245 lbs. Snatch 36 kg (11rm) and Grind uneven 36/32 kg (5rm with the heavier weight in my left hand).

I'm a fan of both the Giant and KSK, so looking forward to this combination.

After week 1, I'm impressed as hell at those of you doing MA training on top of this. My only other work is mobility (unless you count snow-shoveling) and it feels like enough.

Hi everybody
and thanks for the thread its motivating

Just finished week 3

And i am enjoying the program and adding snatches to my training seems to be doing me good.
I feel that week 3 is were it gets interisting
as i started every workout thinking
i am gonna need longer rest between sets
and this is were my reps per workout stalls.
Then find out afterwards that i actually did more reps which is always awesome ;)

M/40/ 188 cm 87kg
c/p 20/20 snatch 24kg

W1d1 snatch 72 total
W3d3 snatch 128 total
W1d2 c/p fsq 32
W3d4 c/p -fsq 52

I just wrapped up week 5 today. It's becoming one of my favorite programs.

I spent a great deal of 6 months doing auto-regulation with Giant/KSK blocks, and I am finding that With Maximorium, the auto-regulation works a bit differently. Geoff states directly in the e-book that the load variation is your auto-regulation. I had to teach myself with the different rep schemes day to day, not to worry about the daily rep count, and just....do, and not worry about the PRE. The changes in PRE are in the load variability. I'm focused more on the weekly rep count now.

Since Week 1, I've gone from 238NL, to week 5 of 296NL.

Week 1 completed!

46 year old male
5'10" / 177cm
148 lbs / 67kg
15.8% BF (based on recent DXA; was below 14% earlier this year, hoping this program will get me back there, along with watching my calories).

Snatch: 28kg (10 RM)
C&P: 2x20kg (8 RM)
FSQ: 2x24kg (12 RM)

Week 1 Totals:
Snatches: 162 (81/side)
C&P: 60
FSQ: 60

I was really hoping to run this with 2x24kg for C&P, since the 20s are a bit light for the low rep sets, but I'm only at a solid 3RM for the 24s (4RM on good day), and I think it will take too long to get to a solid 5RM for the beta testing period. So, I'm running with the lighter 20s, and just focusing on making each rep as high powered as possible (Compensatory Acceleration Training), but sticking with 2x24kg for the FSQs.
After the 12 weeks, perhaps I'll run through it again but with 24s for the C&P.

I actually felt a bit more beat up than expected after the snatch days (I've never run a program with 28kg snatches before, and was actually very surprised when I tested that as my 10RM), so the 20s actually felt about right for the C&Ps given the fatigue.

I am a little worried that I pushed the reps a bit higher than I should have for week 1. We'll see if I can keep it up for week 2...
