Kettlebell Giant + King-sized Killer Review

What if my RMs don’t line up with any of the Giant starting points? I recently tested a 7RM with double 24s and a 2RM with double 28s. Awkward numbers for any form of the Giant.

Just err on the lighter side, you’ll end up making very good progress IMHO.I’ve done giant and Strong and have gone a bit lighter, and it has worked quite well, especially if you build up to the higher rep versions
 
I'm curious about combining the Giant and KSK, would it also work if you do ABA BAB style programming instead of a full block of Giant, then a block of KSK, and so on.
What are pros or cons for both styles? Or could both work evenly great?

I mean the old RKC programme minimum was bent press & snatch.

Alternating C&P & snatch is a powerful combo.

Is your snatch RM both arms combined in a single set, or for a single arm?
 
I'm curious about combining the Giant and KSK, would it also work if you do ABA BAB style programming instead of a full block of Giant, then a block of KSK, and so on.

Yes, that would work, too. Geoff has recommended both approaches.

Over the long run, my guess is that both would work "evenly great".

Personally, I have experimented with pure, alternating blocks and liked how focused it was. Blocks have more of a shock effect and you will experience a lot of "beginner's gains". However, you don't much time to stabilize those gains. Conjugate (ABA BAB) might give you less beginner's gains, but better synergy between the exercises. C&P an Snatch should support each other quite well, I think. But in the end, I think it does not really matter which approach you choose.

I think it would be a good idea to make sure that each week follows the same structure intensity-wise, for example:

Week 1:    L     H     M
           C&P   Sn    C&p
    
Week 2:    L     H     M
           Sn    C&P   Sn
You might therefore rearrange the days of KSK and the Giant.

Thank you for the reply. And the tip to rearrange the intensity. Sounds obvious, but I think I would not have thought about it.

Now see if I buy a 2nd 24kg and start with Giant 3.0, or stay at 2x20 (13rm) and start a bit higher. Maybe 1.05 (easy muscle shedule A) or 1.1. If I analyse the programs the medium day would be around 50% of the rm.

I think 1.05 or 1.1 should both work fine.

You’ll be interested in KB Maximorum when it comes out. It is essentially this in a 4 day schedule plus front squats on press days.

I'm surely interested in Maximorum. I was also invited for the Beta and Maximorum was my fist choice. But I only have time for 3 sessions a week. I guess the Maximorum can be run 3 days a week (probably with slower gains) but it is advertised as a 4 day a week program. Because of this it didn't felt fair to Geoff Neupert to go for Maximorum if I knew beforehand that I wouldn't be able to run it as written and I went for Giant X instead (which I also liked).
But my interest in Maximorum also sparked my interest in running the Giant and KSK as ABA.
When Maximorum is available for purchase, I will definitely buy it. So I hope it comes out rather sooner than later.

I also opted for the Giant X over Maximorum when the Beta Test went out. I picked Giant X because I had already planned to run the original Giant program in early 2023. (I still plan to run The Giant at some point this year)

Ya, it was a tough call. I have actually never run the giant and plan to do so soon. Figured why buy the supreme when I haven’t even tried the classic.
I really enjoyed Maximorum though. Just tested my snatch test today (only training was maximorum and some LISS) was pleased (and disappointed at the same time) that i only missed the 100 by 7 reps, not bad.

Hahahaha! I love the way you phrased it! Because the whole time I've been running Giant X (I have finished X1 and X2 & I just completed Week 1 of X3) there's been a voice in the back of my head that keeps wondering what The Giant "Classic" is like.

The "classic" Giant are 5 programs for 4 weeks each. 3 Of them follow eachother as a 10rm with straight sets. One 10rm with ladders and the final is a 5rm with straight sets. All weeks have a light, medium and heavy day, but you keep those the same for the full 4 weeks.
Results wise, I cannot really say. I have only ever done the first 4 weeks. But I have heard that the most results come from the 2nd and 3rd program. That's why I want to go back to the original Giant and combine it with KSK and see what my results are. (And ofcourse because Maximorum is not available yet ;-) ).
