Kettlebell More crude than Kettlebell

I love how Pavel describes the Kettlebell as a cannonball with a handle on it.
And I love Simple & Sinister for how minimalist it is.
But what is more crude/simple than a Kettlebell?
Answer: Shot Put, which is basically just the cannonball without the handle.
In the summertime, when I can workout outside, after my Kettlebell moves, I huck a 12-lbs. Iron Shot Put around my yard.
I am no good at it. I cannot toss it very far. But its a lot of fun.

When I was competing at judo I used to do a session where I would throw a shot (8kg) in a variety of ways simulating judo throwing movements. I would throw and jog / walk after it repeat alternating sides. I used to cover a couple of miles over cross country terrain. It built a very "useful" fitness.

I have been considering buying the Shot put for a long time and your post might be the trigger for this. Shot putters are incredible athletes.

Cool just for info I'm 50-years old and I purchased a 12 lbs Shot Put. The Olympic Men use a 16lbs. High School and Masters/old men use a 12 lbs. So I got the right one. It was like $35 from Anthem-Sports.com

alright, this sounds like fun.

just ordered one.

clicking on this thread cost me 39 bucks heh.
Very cool. I must know about your workouts with the Shot Put. Somehow get my attention, message me so I can hear about it. Note there are 2 styles of Shot Put: Glide & Spin. I do the Glide, which is older and done now more by women. Glide is easier. But Spin the more athletic one which, to me, requires more skill.
