Happy Holidays all,

I wanted to get people's advice/opinion on the perform better kettlebells before i purchase them.

What are the pros/cons, as they are pretty expensive.

Are there any specials on recommended kettlebells?

Thanks

@natewhite39 - Thanks

Now my dilemma is Rogue or Perform Better or CFF

I am very new to the kettlebell game and looking for a range of KBs from 12kg to 32kg (possibly 5 KBs) but reluctant to make a big purchases on something I havent seen. So relying on my fellow KB'ers for advice - just dont want anything that would need to be sanded down

No sanding needed. I've owned Rogue and PB bells. Highly recommend both.

Thanks Matt. Im currently using the old dragondoor kettlebells with my instructor and wanted to know which one would be the closest feel to them from the Perform Better and Rogue

The Rogue handle is a little grainy, I have them at home. The handles aren't noticeably thinner from the ones my gym had, no idea what brand those were to be honest.

Not Perform Better or Rogue, but the closest to DragonDoor is probably the Kettlebells USA Metrixx Classic. I haven't actually used them, but a poster here stated that a KBUSA Metrixx Classic 28kg was indistinguishable from a DD 28kg. In pictures, they look more like DD than the common cast iron powder coated pattern that seems to be generic these days (such as Perform Better and Rogue use, with minor variations and different branding), and they use a similar E-coat coating to DD, instead of powder coat. In my experience with DD and Rogue bells, the E-coat is much more durable, and when it does get dinged, it doesn't come off in flakes like powder coat often does (I do like the texture of the Rogue paint though).

Kettlebells USA also has a cast iron Metrixx Elite line, which seems to have larger handle windows, which they say are calibrated so that the bell rests similarly in the rack regardless of bell size. I have no personal experience with these either. However, I do have a couple of pairs of Kettlebells USA Paradigm Pro Elite Precision competition style bells that I am very happy with, and the buying experience from Kettlebells USA was problem free.

Metrixx® Classic E-Coat Kettlebells - Free Shipping

It says these, that @Steve W. mentions, have free shipping - I know that is one of @Imran Khan's concerns. I am tempted to add to the collection here ...

Thanks guys @Steve Freides, @Steve W., @Michael Scott, @MattM for the help.

Seems like kettlebell USA are in the lead esp with their free shipping - however is there anyone that actually owns the Kettlebells USA Metrixx Classic and has firsthand experience? I assume the handle wouldn't need to be sanded?

Event though comparing the prices of the PB vs KBUSA KBs - PB are more economical, however after shipping PB ends up being $60 more expensive for 4 KBs (12/16/20/24)

I would not expect the handles to need to be sanded.

The poster who commented on his Metrixx Classic bells is @JamesO. Here are a couple of his comments on them.

New kettlebell day! 80 lb. Metrixx Classic

How essential are kettlebells?

My Metrixx Classic 48kg bell is great. No problems whatsoever. I am in the process of buying a pair of 32 kg bells of the classic right now. Highly recommended.

As mentioned elsewhere, I got my first Perform Better kettlebell about a week ago, a 44 kg, and I'm very pleased with it - handle size, finish, everything seems good to me.

Slightly off topic but I looked into a 48kg from Rogue last week. $130 for the bell, $150 for shipping. No thanks, it'll have to wait til black friday.

Are those normal shipping costs in the US?
I payed only 80$ for a huge order (2x 16/24/32/40/48Kg KBs + 3 Shirts) and there was no discount or special offer involved, it's their normal shipping costs. On top of that Rogue EU is located in Finland and my order had to be shipped from there to Germany.

90lbs/a bit over 40kg is the limit for normal shipping. Any higher and it gets shipped "less than truckload".

Explains why the 40kg I recently bought was $35 for shipping
