Always Be Smashing

5/30 08:45

Bolder boulder
10k jog/walk ~90min

Biggest 10k race in the area - and first time they've done the full-blown road race since before COVID. ~50k people all out of the road together, good stuff... hopefully not a super-spreader.

Jogged it with my son. He doesn't train running much, but did OK. The complaining didn't really start until the race was over, and we had to make a 2 mile walk back to the car. ROFL

Training's going well! All systems seem to be ticking along nicely?

Indeed, feeling pretty solid. The 5/3/1 format fits my "I wanna train everything at the same time" mindset, since you only hit each big lift once a week. Leaves room/energy for all my other various distractions.

I have given up on the idea that I'll ever get my training sessions down to 1 hour, though. 80 minutes seems to be as short as I'm able to force myself to go. First world problems. ROFL

It's tough, less than stellar recoveries lately have forced me to experiment with minimal doses in training. I have more options likely, due to my work being of the 'lighter' variety. Timed training isn't my favorite, though it helps when work surges, that's when time and energy are in short supply.

Had our first baseball game Thursday evening. I'm really excited by the offense - the kids went out there to hit the ball, rather than waiting for a walk. Plenty of defensive errors, of course. But so much fun.

A little bit of pace work... if you can call 11mph a pace.

EDIT: forgot to log post-run mobility... which hasn't been happening much lately

Really good run this morning, HR stayed low throughout. But, for me, mixing a run that long with weights on the same day is a little much - knee was creaking in the evening. Can only get away with that during deload week.

This was after our third baseball game (and 3rd win, BTW). Amazing how much standing in a dugout and yelling at kids takes out of you.

Everything tonight felt OK... but just OK. The TGU is a good diagnostic tool, and I feel like tonight it was warning me that something is close to breaking. Figure I need to keep the limiter on snatch volume for a bit.

Today I went for my first motorcycle ride in many months... and I got a hip cramp. Curse you, tac frogs!
