Had the thought this morning that mobility/flexibility work - and maybe any physical improvement pursuit - is like carving a stone statue. You can only chip away a little bit at a time, and sometimes it's hard to tell if you're actually creating something, or just making a mess.

And sometimes, it feels like you're working with a wooden chisel.

Good session on the bag, felt sharp. But accidently smacked a spin kick into a wall rather than the back. The wall won.

40 is almost feeling light on the TGU. Almost.

Interesting night on DL. After loading the bar, my mind was thinking " I don't wanna do this." Some measure of technique fear, I figure. But all the reps were solid.

Had to skip core/grip tonight in order to make dinner.

Another rough day mentally. Got through the work, but the whole time the mind was thinking about how I'd rather be doing something else. Need a mental deload or something.

Training this week is a little wonky due to some work stuff. Which is fine, felt like I needed a little bit of a decompress anyway.

Feeling some lack of mobility in the GSQT today. I suppose a result of missing mobility work for most of the week.

Long, ugly day at work that prevented me from getting in a stretching session, and the extended into the evening. Ugh.

Grip troubles with the DL. Presses and pullups felt pretty fresh today, probably from not having done any last week. First set of pistols was all over the place, tightened up for the second two. OK session all things considered .

Having a rough time getting back on regular schedule. Missed my alarm this morning, so no long run. Then another hellacious day at work, missed my stretching session.

03/26 21:00

Was in the mood to just try something new. So:

KB snatch 30x1 40 EMOM
- 20x jump rope between reps
TGU 5x1 x side 40

I attempted one TGU with the 48, and discovered that the forearms had nothing left after the snatches - had to dump it before I even got up to the elbow!

Still a fun session, but afterwards I was reminded of something I said to myself on this log earlier; can't mix DL and heavy swings. And these swings were heavy! Might be paying for it later.

As predicted, was feeling beat up today - lower back fatigue. Lesson learned (again ) - I can't mix heavy DL and heavy swings in the same cycle. Now let's see if I can be smart enough to rest up until I'm fully recovered. ..

Volleyball double-header in the evening. Bit of a rough night. I think the back fatigue was preventing me from getting off the ground as well as I usually do, wasn't hitting well. And my team is just too old and slow for double-headers, we definitely slowed down more and more as the night went on. Still had fun.

... and that was the end of training for the week. Headed up to the mountains with the family for spring break, got in a couple of hours skiing every day.

Probably good timing given that my back really needed to heal up. But having a couple of disruptive weeks here, between travel and the back strain, makes you start questioning every thing you're doing. Spent a lot of goof off time looking at injury-proofing and training time management... a lot of what I was suggested is stuff I'm already doing.

Hopefully can get back on regular training schedule this week, be smart and just enjoy it.
