Andrew's Training Log

Today’s Practice: Timeless Solid

•3x5 paused goblet squats x 40kg
•10x10 one arm swings x 40kg
•10x1 get ups x 40kg

Exhausted. This wasn’t a very good practice. I may need to reconsider my training a bit.

Today’s Practice:
  • 3x5 paused goblet squats x 28kg
  • 6x10 one arm swings x 28kg
  • 6x1 get ups x 28kg
I was pretty dead yesterday. So, I had two liquid IVs, did my breath work, took a nap, and did some inversion therapy. I felt much better today! But I still opted for a very light session this morning.

I also did a breath hold of 4:05 minutes today. Not a PR, but the best I’ve done in a while.

Later in the afternoon I did some apnea training and some light stretching. Great day!

Today’s Thought:

I’ve been training S&S for over 15 consecutive months now, and I’ve achieved some great results. I can confidently say that I can complete Timeless Solid and Timed Simple any given day!

But, I have hit a bit of a plateau, both physically and mentally. So, I’ll take a detour for the time being.

So, for the time being, I’ll be doing the original program minimum: snatches and bent presses! I’ll start with 24kg in both exercises and work on increasing the reps.

My goal for the time being is to just get stronger and enjoy my training. We’ll see what happens!

Today’s Practice: Hill Workout #30

•110 total hills, barefoot (HUGE PR)

This was more of a workout to say that we did it. And to break the Fox Hill record (100). My legs are pretty shot right now.

By the way, this is the hill we’ve been running up:

Today’s Practice: Rest

•hamstring stretches, hip flexor stretches, calf stretches, quad stretches, tactical frogs, seated straddle, brettzle, and gymnastic bridges

•o2 apnea training (4 minute breath hold), co2 apnea training, and a lot of apnea training while walking

A buddy of mine gave me a challenge yesterday. A performance goal and a bodyweight goal. He has to be under 85kg and achieve Timed Simple by Christmas. Me, I have to be under 80kg and achieve Timed Solid. Just the motivation I need to stay consistent. So,

Today’s Practice: Road to Timed Solid
  • 3x5 paused goblet squats: 40, 40, 40
  • [III-III-III] 12x10 two arm swings: 40, 40, 40, 40, 40, 40 (10 swings every 60 sec); 120 total swings in 12 min
  • [III-III-III] 12x1 get ups: 40, 40, 40, 40, 40, 40 (1 get up every 90 sec); 12 total get ups in 18 min
I’ve been eating really well this weekend, so I chose the hardest options available. All three variables will be decided by dice throw moving forward. I did two arm swings mostly to let a blister on my finger heal, but I also enjoy doing two arm swings from time to time. I think I’ll keep them per S&S (i.e. every 2nd to 3rd practice).

I took a deload week where I just trained Timeless Simple. It was much needed.

Yesterday’s Practice:

•3x5 paused goblet squats: 36, 44, 36
•10x10 one arm swings: 36, 44, 36, 36, 36
•10x1 get ups: 36, 44, 36, 36, 36

The 44 is heavy, but not too heavy. The 36 feels like a toy. I also did an intensive stretching session later in the afternoon. I’m super close on my good side!

Today’s Practice:

•3x5 paused goblet squats: 28, 36, 28
•12x10 two arm swings: 28, 36, 28, 28, 28, 28
•10x1 get ups: 28, 36, 28, 28, 28

Lighter weights today, but I cut the rest a bit and that made the practice tougher.

Hill Workout #33: 40 straight hills without rest
-a nice PR. I’ve never done 40 straight. It got tougher towards the end, but I felt good!

Today’s Practice:
  • 3x5 paused goblet squats: 32, 40, 32
  • 10x10 one arm swings: 32, 40, 32, 32, 32
  • 12x1 get ups: 32, 40, 32, 32, 32, 32
One arm wings with the 40 felt really good! Get ups felt pretty good. 32 feels light.

Today’s Practice:

-3x5 paused goblet squats: 36, 44, 36
-8x10 one arm swings: 36, 44, 36, 44
-10x1 get ups: 28, 36, 28, 28, 28

I was supposed to only do 1 set with the 44, but I felt good, so I did 2. 40 one arm swings with the 44 felt great!
