Hello,

I have a question regarding Armstrong Pull Up Program.
I tested my max in pull ups with result - 6 reps.
So my training set it will be - 3 reps.
What if on Monday I manage to do 8 reps of pull ups?
Should I increase my training sets to 4 reps?

Hello,

Is it this program:

Usually, I am more a proponent of the long term and recovery. As a drawback it can makes me too cautious.

I would stick to sets of 3 to avoid overtraining and injury. Doing so, you may perform the program with a few reps in the tank. That way I would be sure to finish.

At the end of the program, you can reassess and start again.

Other super routines like 5/3/1 use this principle of starting with a volontarily "low" % of 1RM. People doing them still gain a lot of strength.

Kind regards,

Pet'

agreed, doing a complete cycle and THEN testing seems better in the long run for me.
