In yoga they talk about taking fewer breaths per minute being healthier. Is this what buteyko essentially is doing, stretching the normal breath out?
No, although that may be what happens for some people. We could get into a lengthy discussion about the various methods we use. Suffice it to say that a deeper breath taken less often, which is what I think you're describing, is not something I suggest.
