Is bacon too processed for carnivore?
Nitrates In Processed Meat

This is the crux of what drives the "Processed Meat" misinformation issue.

Ironically, so do vegetables...

Are Nitrates and Nitrites Misunderstood?

Nitrates and nitrites have had a reputation for being toxic to human health for a number of decades, but their association with poor health outcomes may be unfounded.

...Vegetables are the biggest source of nitrates in the human diet: Virtually all vegetables contain far more nitrates than processed meats and Vonstitute at least 85% of nitrate consumption in humans; cured processed meats account for only 6% of nitrate consumption."

Nitrates are "dangerous only when consumed in excessive amounts (i.e., 3 to 5 grams of nitrates, which is equivalent to 6,000–10,000 servings of cured meat, at one sitting)."

...In order to get to the unsafe limit determined by the [U.S. Department of Agriculture], you would have to eat maybe a container of bacon of day.

Will protein powder spike my insulin?

Yes

As per the chart below...

1) Protein minutely increase insulin comparative to carbohydrates.

2) Fats essentially do not trigger and insulin response.
