Chronicles of Becoming a Man

12/18/2020 Burn 2.0
Phase 3, W1D3

Session A

Block A: 28kg 32NL
Block B: 28kg 12 NL
Block C: 28kg 80NL

I think next week I’m going to have to drop the KB into the rack for the snatch. My tape job held up to a degree but still irritated the open callus

Phase 3, W2D1

Session B

Block A: 24kg 66NL
Block B: 24kg 84 NL
Block C: 28kg 100NL

typos from the first session B from last week with rep counts. Apparently multiplying by 2 is difficult. Anyways, today was an awesome session. Blocks B and C were EMOM.

Phase 3, W2D

Session A

Block A: 28kg 62NL
Block B: 28kg 12 NL
Block C: 28kg 80NL

today worked really well with dropping the snatch back into the rack. My torn hand appreciated it.

Phase 3, W3D1

Session A

Block A: 28kg 72NL
Block B: 28kg 12 NL
Block C: 28kg 80NL

this is the first day since day 1 of this phase where I did not need to tape my hand with the open callus. Heavy snatches felt phenomenal.

12/31/2020 Burn 2.0
Phase 3, W3D3

Session A

Block A: 28kg 60NL
Block B: 28kg 8 NL
Block C: 28kg 80NL

I purposely kept the volume low today. Between another holiday and weekend visitors, I was inclined to perform back to back sessions. shoulders and glutes were still a tiny bit of tired from yesterday's session. Focus on snatch was holding the lockout position a little longer and spending longer times at each position of the get up.

Session B

Block A: 24kg 72NL
Block B: 24kg 88 NL
Block C: No finisher

The SLDL is an interesting exercise selection. Given the nature of the program, it is my belief that slower and lower rep count are better with this. The focus has always been to get full body tension to maintain balance and to neutralize any trunk rotation.

Session A

Block A: 28kg 48NL
Block B: 20kg 120NL

I auto-regulated today with the first 2 blocks. Fell off the Keto wagon over the holidays so the body is still readjusting. Last year, I did not auto regulate when we first started and switched to a 5 day a week “Ketogenic” program by Pat Flynn that made all my strength gains virtually disappear and made me feeling run down. Never again. I would definitely categorize Keto as a fad diet if your goal is to lose weight, but it actually comes recommended for people with hypertension, which I have.

End note: Get ups as a finisher? It works, but man.

block B was a little sloppy and difficult towards the end. Going to increase rest and reduce reps.

Protecting a popped rob that I occassionally, but I haven’t been able to pop it back in.

Today was the last day of finishers for this program. Thank goodness. It’s not that I couldn’t handle it, but because the sessions would upwards to an hour.

16th and Final week!

2/5/21. TEST

I’ve spent the last 16 weeks on Burn 2.0 and made definite improvements in body composition and strength. The last few weeks, I did not put the pedal to the metal or challenge myself but I am still very happy with the results.

next week starts my endeavor with RMF, starting with the strength phase from Express Ultra. This phase calls for a 5RM for the long cycle.

test using 2x24kg is 7 reps. Perfect.

7 x 1,2,3 ladders

Singles 2x24 kg
Doubles alternating 2x20 and 2x24 each ladder
Triples 2x20

by the end of 4 weeks, I hope to be using only the 24s.

I’m really liking this movement so far. I’m easing into the volume and spending an extra moment in the rack and catch positions.
