I feel better doing cleans heavier (up to 1/2 bw) than 1 hand swing. Am I wrong to say kb cleans are quality core work? Anti rotation in both upswing then opposite direction in catch, lateral stability bc of unilateral, anti flexion during the hinge... Seems that I never read about this view of it.

imho one arm heavy cleans will work your midsection very hard. For me - 1/2 bw and beyond is key.

Heavy double cleans are the “diamond in the rough” kettlebell exercise. Very under-rated for a lot of qualities.

Double cleans with up to bodyweight - great exercise. Less than that is good, too, but for me, a total of 1/2 bw between two bells wouldn't be enough weight.
