Barbell Coan Phillipi Deadlift Program

Has anybody used the Coan Phillipi Deadlift program to peak for a meet?

I am currently running it before the TSC in October and it calls for a new 1RM the week before the meet.

Has this worked for anybody or have they found pulling a 1RM a week before to be too much?
 
It depends. If you're a relatively new lifter, it can work. If not, I'd say a true max for the competition.

I will just see how I feel when I get to week 10. If 195kg doesn't feel like it's going to be a 1RM I will go for it. If it does I may back off a bit. I was just wondering.if anybody had any experience of this program
 
The program can be effective, just depends on how good your recovery is. One thing to keep in mind is to make sure technique is on par throughout when doing heavy loads.
