Howdy, folks! JD here from Texas. I'm new to StrongFirst and kettlebells, but the question I have today is about the regular deadlift (barbell). First, a quick background/profile on me. I'm 45 yrs old, and I've done limited weight training off and on since high school. Right now I weigh around 196 lbs (height 5'9"), but I should be in the 175-180 range. No recent injuries that would interfere with this exercise.

As far as deadlift goes, I feel like I'm pretty weak in that department. I've done them a few times in the past, but they were never a regular part of my workouts. So I started doing them last night and did two sets - 185 lbs x 6 and 205lbs x 4. It was pretty challenging, but I didn't hurt myself. Should I keep it at this level for now or make some changes?

JD, I just started deadlifting also and I'm having a blast doing it. I'm planning on picking up PTTP next also.

What part of Texas are you from? getting coaching for the deadlift would be a wise idea
