Hmmm. I suppose one could also label goals as specific or non-specific.

1. Specific goal- I eat the way that I do to gain weight/mass .(bus bench?)

2. Non-specific- I eat the way that I do so I don't die of starvation. (Park bench?)

I believe that one's goals can fluctuate as conditions, objectives , or needs change.

I usually use two different terms.

I use goal for a qualitative objective (lose weight, gain muscle, be better at a sport, be in good health). You need a goal to progress, be it a park bench or bus bench training.

I then use target for a quantitative objective (the whole SMART thing, although most people I have seen using the terminology do not understand what SMART actually means. Here the R is what ensure that your target is compliant with the goal). No bus bench training without targets.

My immediate goal is to pick up heavy things as a USAPL meet in an hour or two.

@Carl in Dover, I’m registered for the NJ State Championship on June 24 - you going? I’ve decided to show off my weak BP and registered as Push/Pull. The meet is filling up fast.
