If you find you come to the forum with new messages in your Inbox that you didn't know about, try this:
Click on your name, then select Contact Preferences.
Look at the three Messaging Preferences in the middle - the third one controls if you get email notification of new Inbox messages. Make sure this is checked and you will then receive an email from the forum whenever you have a new message in your forum Inbox. Click on that in your email and you'll be taken directly to the new Inbox item.
