Ive tweaked a shoulder. I saw somewhere Pavel saying you should exercise the injured area to improve it.

Ive looked around and can't find it. can someone point the way?

Maybe it was Dan John? I can't remember Pavel talking about rehab.

Dan John recommends doing what you can, especially with your uninjured side. He has written about it (for example in Intervention) and has a recent video on his facebook page.

When i get a minor tweak it helps to do passive/active hangs from a pull up bar. Another thing that helps is putting your hand behind your back, so if you lift your arm over head then bend at the elbow to try and put your hand along your upper spine. Try to keep the shoulder packed as you’re doing it, this helps when my shoulders are nagging.

I worry that we're getting into things that really ought to be handled by a medical professional here.

There are certainly examples wherein, after an injury, light activity is recommended after a few days. But it very much depends on the injury, and the severity of the injury, and is therefore best done in consultation with your doctor or physiotherapist or similar.
