Swings: 2-handed swings, 10 sets at 32K, 20:10

I introduced the 32K kettlebell into the getups this week. The 32K gets your attention. I had no issues. Going from the kneeling to standing took extra concencentration.

I did a look of work on Saturday, October 3 and ran out of gas. Only did the swings, and felt like I had bad form. So I did not do the getups.

I had a busy Time at work so practice sessions got vey limited. I got a 40k and began doing swings with them.

i also got a 28K bell. I decided to dropthe getup weight from 32K to 28K. I did not feel that comfortable with the 32K. On My 10/8 session, I came very close to failing with the 32K. I don’t know if this was the right move, but moving forward

I need to get more regular. It was extremely busy at work.

To continue to progress forward, one needs to stay clear of major injury. It sounds like the 28kg bell may be a more appropriate tool than the 32kg bell right now for you to explore heavy get ups safely and effectively. And mastering the 28kg get up is a feat that most guys half your age have never done, so one doesn’t need to look down on the 28kg bell as being inferior because it is less than 32kg.

Overall, a couple of good weeks of practices. I started working in the 40K bell into the swings. I added two 28K reps into getups. I feel more confident with the 28K than the 32K on the swings. Two 28K getups are challenging. My left arm was getting tired toward the end of the second.

I should do more days but have gotten busy. Need to prioritize. I find it easy to miss a day thinking I can make it up tomorrow. Not a good strategy, particularly for S&S. Consistency is important.

Surprisingly to me, the 40K bell is hard but not as hard as I thought it would be. Its a handful :), but I feel in control. I make sure to concentrate on these, which probably means I will tweet myself at a lighter weight. Swings have been “easier” for me to progress with than Getups.

Same here. My swings are going well, after 4 years, my get ups, not so much.

Keeping on, Keeping on. Nothing much to report. I added 3 sets of 28K to getup. Everything is going ok. Getting lazy with the time. Missed some days, but . . . . I should make it to all 28K for getup by end of year. then achieve timeless simple by April or May. I am not going to get in a hurry.

I am pleased with the program. I doubt anyone would notice a difference in my body composition, but it is changing. All parts of my body are “harder”. I also feel more in command of my body, which is hard to quantify, but it is a feeling.

So, I made it to the end of 2020. My kids were home during the holidays and I did not get as much training in as I should have. Ate poorly as well. There is always tomorrow. :)

Overall, I had hoped to achieve the simple goal by the end of 2020. That did not happen but I am close. I ended the year swinging a 32K bell and doing a getup with a 28K bell. I started the year with a 24K bell for swinging and 16K for the getup.

I decided to get a trainer, Eileen Backman, and had my first zoom session on 12/31/2020. Eileen is a SFG II and has achieved Sinister. She indicated some things to clean up in my swing. In particular, I need to do better at my breathing and I was not packing my shoulder properly. I dropped a bell size and tried the swings with the new approach. It felt strange. On Jan 1, I feel my lat which may indicate I did something right (hopefully).

Overall, I am stronger at the end of the year at the beginning. I will continue into 2021.

Best wishes to all in the coming year.
