Hi all,
Had my left shoulder replaced yesterday. So far, so good. The sling is cumbersome, but so far the pain is manageable with Tylenol and Advil. Only one prescription pill before bed. Trying to stay off of it.

6 weeks laid up, can't ever lift more than 40 lb. ever again. I'll still be around. Love all of you guys and kettlebells.

Watch your volume, and weight. There are no medals for too much of either.

Do some snatches, presses and TGU's for me!

Your friend,
Brian

Wow. That seems restrictive, but I’m sure the medicos are right. Like the others have said… all the best and heal up quick (and don’t be a stranger around here)

Ouch! I wish you a speedy recovery.

Very true. What caused you to need your shoulder replacement? Anything specific you can think of?
Originally hurt my shoulder way back in the 1990s doing push-ups. I never thought kettlebells because it was always lateral pain not vertical. I'm sure all the volume I did with the kettlebells wore it down because I'm arthritic in my right shoulder as well. I don't blame anything. Middle age 54 sports and lifting.

If I were to do it again, 10 RPM for weight 5-8 reps Volume 24-50.

I don't think certain programs are meant for higher mileage lifters

Injuries suck mate, hope you recover soon.

Best of luck in your healing, @Brian. One of my family members recently had a reverse shoulder replacement (ball on shoulder blade, socket on humerus) and is doing quite well.

Are you the same Brian that used to have a web blog on your kettlebell training (as well as career and family odds and ends)? If so, I used to read it as I started my journey with KBs.

Reading this gent in the past, he will be doing that while pulling 2 enormous tractor tyres behind him! His workouts always pushed the envelope past anything I was willing to try

I had shoulder surgery (labrum/rotator cuff). I know it’s no fun. Hope you heal well! I found that long walks helped me heal and gain ROM just as good as the PT and deal with frustration of not working out like I wanted.
