Unfortunately sustained a knee injury over a month ago.
This happend while doing Hindu squats in work boots.
No popping sound,no swelling. Pain us on the inside .
Can squat and walk upstairs /downstairs no pain.
Can also pivot on one leg no pain.

Only thing that causes pain is trying to sit back on ankles.

Carried on doing goblet squats and ATG exercises but feel like it just aggravated it more.

At moment just doing leg raises and using flossbands.

Been to Dr who asked if it swelled or loud pop so just advised me to rest it.

I'm 53yrs so age maybe slowing healing process.

Personally I find Drs are useless for injuries, can you see a physiotherapist instead?

Depending upon where you live and what type of medical coverage you have, you may have no practical recourse but to see a doctor prior to seeing a physiotherapist. I have almost always had excellent results with doctors. But I am not talking about your typical GP or family doctor. I seek out and find sports medicine docs who specialize in the body part in question, and who are sport’s participants themselves.
I conversely have had abysmal experiences with physios, who don’t understand the mindset of athletes, let alone adventure athletes.

So in the US you need to go to a doctor in order to see a physiotherapist? You guys are nuts.

Walk it off.

Seriously, just keep moving and keep the blood flowing there, but don't aggravate it.

It's been a month, sounds like more of an annoyance than a serious injury, doc's assessment is nothing tore or broke, no swelling, you probably just irritated or strained something.

You will heal in time.

If you still have issues in 3-4 months, then see a sports doc.

Just bought a better knee brace one with stabiliser to give more support to knee. Thought it was meniscus but spoken to a couple guys from gym who have both had meniscus injuries and they both said knees swelled up bad when it happened and they couldn't sit crossed legs.

My own suspicion is its a MCL tear or strain.

I do lots of walking as a security patrol officer .

I'm based in the UK.

I've torn my MCL playing (American) football --- you would have swelling and other acute symptoms if you had.

Strain / sprain, maybe.

But if you're not having active swelling, it's not something major.

Swelling is a response to injury.

Thanks for replying never had any swelling at first thought it maybe meniscus but my Dr checked to see if I could pivot without pain which I could. Dr just told me to rest and didn't need a MRI . Hopefully it's just a strain but keeping me away from squatting and BJJ.

I’ve slightly torn my meniscus (MRI confirmed) and didn’t have any swelling or popping sound. Hurt for about a week and then the only thing that caused pain was deep squats/sitting back on ankles when in someone’s guard in BJJ.

I’m not a Dr or PT but my advice - keep up the squats, go real light and don’t even go to parallel. Then slowly work a bit deeper and deeper but stay light. Also, lots of stretching! Hamstring, quads, hips and calves.

Good luck.

I have similar after deciding to lay off KBs & push knees over toes stuff hard. Next day knee was tight and hurt both inside and at back of knee. I suspect it was either sissy squats or straight leg 45 degree back extensions. Plus getting closer to 50 and pushing hard on a new exercise. Smart move, right?

Any pain behind your knee, high up on the calf/ lower leg?
