What you're seeing is an upgrade from XenForo forum software, version 1.2, to version 2. There was a good amount of work behind the scenes to make the transition seamless - some features that used to be supplied by add-ons are now part of the base product, some things that required custom work in the old version required that custom work to be redone for the new version, and so on.

Some things have been moved around or work a little differently, e.g., you'll find New Posts in more than one place on the menus now.

If anyone would like to add any specifics, please do - what I said above is what comes to mind. It was an important upgrade for us because the older version, while quite popular and still very much in use, is no longer supported.
