Is there anyone who has pressed the beast who is under 180 lbs? If so, do you have a video? Or can you still press it and can you make a video?

To be clear, even if you're 225 I think pressing the beast is a pretty big deal, but I would like to see the technique (side lean, etc.) someone fairly light needs to put it up.

Thanks!

Rob

Jeff Steinberg, whose DL we were discussing, has completed the Beast Challenge.

I believe Mike Davis completed the beast tamer challenge under 180 lbs, but not 100% sure.

Is that the guy who is friends with Marty Gallagher? If so, I saw him floor press the beast with comic ease about a year ago ... he was talking while he did it and looked like he could have played poker simultaneously while repping out ...

Mike Davis is friends with Marty and is incredibly Strong. Just saw a video a few weeks back where he was 1/2 kneeling pressing the Beast! Very impressive.  I will try to locate the video and post it here.

That guy looks very like another shorter very thick strong guy we know Rob. I think you're levers are longer.

Joe Sarti pressed it at 170 lbs and came within an inch of Taming the Beast.

Just checked with Mike D and he was 170lb for video that I mentioned. It is on his FB page. I told him he should post it here.

Karen very impressively pressed the 24 when she owned the Iron Maiden Challenge.  That's OK Karen, I'll toot your horn;)

Left hand press 48kg kettlebell (40kg bell, 8kg of weight taped to it) 160lbs bw

Right side, directly afterwards

Both of the above are over a year ago.  I was at my lifetime strongest with overhead pressing quite recently but I wasn't training with Kettlebells at the time, however here are some of the highlights

60kg Olympic barbell press @ 165lbs bw

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53xkueVW5mE

47.5kg x 11 reps (Beast weight Barbell)

Then I stopped for a bit, lost a bit of peak strength and tried to rep a 32kg kettlebell to failure just for s***s and giggles, got 25 consecutive reps with left arm

Would like to press body weight on a bar one day.

Oh, honorable mention goes to this, one arm power clean & jerk with a 60 barbell at just 154lbs bw

Fun stuff, Paul.  I particularly enjoy the jiggy dance before the beast press.

I'm curious, how tall are you?  You seem to be the beast presser closest to my size (I'm 6'1", 170, and a really long way from pressing the beast).

Cheers,

Thanks Pol. That is a real help. Guys like Jeff and Mike are amazing but don't really an offer a model I can copy much from. You have same levers as me and are even a few pounds lighter.

Hi guys, thanks for the kind words.  Im 6ft tall and have REALLY long arms which you can see best from this picture which appears in Easy Strength:

My brother in law is 6ft 4in and my arms are longer than his!  So you don't HAVE to be short to press big but I'm sure it helps.  Former Master RKC Kenneth Jay also pressed two 32kg bells in the same hand at 6ft 3in and 205lbs bw.
