offwidth Level 10 Valued Member Mar 13, 2020 #2 Yes and no.... Your lats will be engaged during both. But doing finger hang pull-ups will work your forearm musculature differently. It will also differ if you use an open hand or crimp position with your fingers. A word of caution... go easy with this... it can be very stressful on the finger tendon pulleys. Once you have torn or ruptured one of these you will question why you ever wanted to do finger pull-ups to begin with. Which actually is a good question... why do you...?
