It's probably the best way to go, I'll try and see if I can improvise a system.

Do you have pictures or links to DIY systems? I'll look some up but you might have found great ones already.

@Anna C thanks for the precisions, I remember learning it from a bodyweight workshop with my SF instructor Louka, but it wasn't an official SFB workshop and it was a couple of years ago.
You need:
  • 2 small pulleys that you can get at any hardware store (or Canadian Tire)
  • A length of cord that is the right diameter for the pulleys and strong enough. Something like 6mm climbing accessory cord (Mountain Equipment Coop)
  • I use a climbing harness but a weight belt would work.
  • One pulley needs to be mounted over your head above your bar or rings
  • The second pulley should be mounted at least a meter away from you at the same height.
  • One end of cord gets attached to harness (I use a carabiner)
  • The cord gets threaded up through the pulley above you and across and down through the other pulley
  • Affix the free end to your weight(s) of choice. I use webbing and another carabiner
  • The greater the weight, the greater the assistance
  • You obviously need to pull the weight down to get it attached to your harness or belt
