RIS page 52: hold your breath and the contraction for a moment, then suddenly let all the air go, along with the tension.

Question: does this mean letting all the tension go in the shoulders as well thus going from an active hang into a passive hang?

Thanks

@Rockinrobin, welcome to the StrongFirst forum.

Not all shoulders will like this. If you've had shoulder issues, I would approach the idea of a relaxed shoulder in a hang with caution. But ideally, someone with healthy shoulders should be able to release the tension and be in a passive hang.
