Hi everyone, Carl in Dover here ,
63yo,male, 215+/-, 5'10" informally lifting at home on and off for 2 years.

Entered in the Delaware Senior Olympics , deadlifting this coming Saturday
This is the record I'm going to beat.

Delaware Senior Olympics
Weight Lifting Dead Lift
M 60 - 64 2012 220 <lifter name>DE 325

Tonight I had a great raw pull, belt only (my best) at 325#. Held at the top for a 2 count and lowered under control. I felt like I could have done 5 or 10 more.
I know that I need to rest and recover before Saturday, but what tips do you experienced lifters have to help me be ready for Sat?
I'm good for packing the night before, getting plenty of sleep, eating right and staying healthy.
Should I do some light lifting, stretching only? Try 330# tomorrow?

Congrats!

Practice diaphragmatic breathing, meditate and visualize yourself performing the lifts with technical perfection.

Carl, do whatever you're used to. I've done enough of these that I take a week to 10 days off from most lifting before a meet - a few light DL's in there but I like to feel completely rested and then some.

Thanks for the tips guys! This will be my first "official" event. All my other work was at home or the CrossFit I used to go to.
@Zack , visualizing and meditating sounds good, will look into the breathing
@Steve, some light lifting sounds like a plan!

Also, already signed up for the USA Powerlifting Delaware Fall Classic on Oct 29
On the waitlist for the Iron Gobbler
