I reached simple some time back. I am now back training the program 3-4 days a week with my 32 kg. I think its just a great way to start the day. I am considering going up in weight and found a 36 kg kb for a good price.

For those of you that went up, did you go straight to 40 kg or can it be good to use 36 kg for a while?

I went with a 36 while I was still working toward timed Simple. It was plenty heavy for my purposes.

I use it all the time for suitcase carries.

AND…I have it for when I eventually get around to pressing heavy.

When i was done with the 32 i Incorporated 40 as able to.

just making numbers upp for example.
Monday 40kg 2 get ups each side. 40x 1h swings.
Tuesday 32 10+100
Wednesday off, tired
Thursday 40 1+1 32 4+4, 40 100x 2 h swings 20min
Friday 40kg 3+3 TGU @20min, 32kg 80x 1h swings.

First build the total volume up, never mind the time. Then when you got the volume, increase density. Rinse - repeat.

I made the jump to 40kg and it went fine with swings, but getups the transition from 32kg to 40kg was very difficult. I know more now and have better methods for making something like the bigger jump work, such as incorporating partials @ the heavier weight (e.g. 40kg to elbow) and building up to multiples with the lower weight (e.g. building up to 32kg x 3 x 3 / side).

I went straight from 32 to 40... as described in the book... For me TGU were confidently increased. But the 1 arm swings were what gave me issues at first. 2 arm swings and alternating swings were fine. But at 4 weeks for each step, progress was smooth.

That said, I'll be restarting the run with a new goal of 48,,, With that new run I'll be using the 36 instead of jumping straight to 40.

I went straight from 32 to 40. It was a bit of a leap of faith for the TGU (half my body weight), but manageable. The transition to 40 seemed more challenging than the 24-32; I had to back off from 5-6 days a week to 3-4, and my rest times also increased more than I expected.

I bought a 36 kg with no regrets. I was able to do get ups with it which had been my concern.
My next bell will be a 44 kg (I think).
