Personally, I'm not a fan of chalk... I don't see the point. Even *if* it does improve your grip, it strikes me as "fake"... in my sport, I can't use chalk, so what's the point?
What is your sport?

Also what kind of bells are you using and are they yours or the gyms?

if they are yours, you may want to look at the handles and see if they are coated. I had KBKs and they come with a varnish on the handles. i sand that off to get down to bare steel. That's much easier to grip than the shiny varnish. Also if you are using cast bells then you have to deal with larger handle sizes. If so, you might want to see if you can build up the handle of your 32 to be the same diameter of your 40. That way you can practice to get your grip stronger.

There are various wrist exercises that will strengthen your wrists and hands. Wrist rolling comes to mind but us a large diameter bar to better simulate the size of your bell's handle.
