Barbell SQUAT BIG PLATES FOR REPS CHALLENGE - 2023

Understood. Just thought it would be convenient to have it in one spot all the time for handy reference. It's awesome you're running this! I didn't realize it was you until I saw your video of 225 x 10. I started watching your videos it feels like a decade ago!
Could very well be a decade or more - I've been on YouTube since it started.

Well, in my typically heretical physical culture style, having just finished an afternoon/evening session at the workshop, wherein I also ate a whole large pizza to myself , I will now, at just past midnight make an attempt at high rep squats with 135. I want to do 225 as well, but not today. Will reply back with the numbers shortly. What's the number to beat?

Brock L: [...] 40

Forty!?

Fine. But maybe 225 will not be this week either. ROFL Okay here goes.

I'm new here but can I play?

I did an AMRAP
with 3 plate and got 7 reps at 170lbs bodyweight. The problem is it's only 140kg or 308.6lbs not 315lb as we work in kilos here in England

I've done 100kg/220lbs for an all time best 30 reps a few years back but I don't have that on video unfortunately.

Is bodyweight taken into consideration or does it not matter?

Nice job!

No, bodyweight, age, monolift, equipment, squat variants - we're not concerning ourselves with these things (at least I'm not as far as recording for the challenge goes). It's a friendly challenge so a lot of things are "loose".

Do you want to go as "Washed Up Meathead", "McAlpine", or something else?

Thanks. Cool man, that's fair enough and it's a fun challenge. I've always liked Amrap's on compound moves, especially squats.

Just my username, Washed up meathead will do thanks lol.

Yeah, I felt fine a minute after, and perfect today. I ride a bike daily to get to my workshop, down a hill, up a hill, down a hill, up a hill, so my legs are used to a lot of work, and maybe I will get lucky? I'll let you know tomorrow.

Wow man, 51 reps is Outstanding!

Thank you!

I can imagine that it would have been way more a mental challenge than Physical?

Yes. My main concern was to hit depth on each rep, and while I know each one was at least very close to parallel, I could have definitely done better. I like to go a bit below parallel usually.

To keep going and pushing yourself, it must have started to burn half way.

Rep 18.

Thank you!

To go from it burning at rep 18 all the way to 51 shows Great tenacity. This is just great stuff man. Id be sore for a week after that lol

Dodged a bullet! Guess I'll try 225 tomorrow after all. I have no idea how many I'll do in the set, but I'm sure this is one I'll regret. (y)
