Kettlebell Strong phase 1 progress

For the last 8 weeks I’ve been undertaking phase 1 of Strong, using double 32s in the clean-and-press, and two days ago I retested my rep max. What began as a tough 5RM has turned into a 9RM! I genuinely expected to fail at around 6 or 7 but they just kept on coming.

By all accounts, this isn’t at all unusual for people running Strong but it feels almost miraculous to me. These are two kettlebells I’ve owned and used since 2006, and NEVER have I pressed them so many times. Yes, I’ve had other training distractions, including lengthy breaks, but I’m no novice. I managed 7 reps in 2017 but that was with very lengthy and intense training sessions that ended up burning me out. All it took this time was 8 weeks using expert programming to boost my numbers by 80%. What a return on investment!

With much gratitude to @Geoff Neupert for such beautiful simplicity in a programme, I’m even more excited than I already was to embark on Slow and Steady!
