you can do either way, but I find it that doing one swing+one clean (chains) saves your grip a bit, so sometimes people get to use heavier bells doing it this way.
If you want, I can send you the whole program and help you adjust it to your possibilities.
 
Pavel mentioned 32 kg in a recent post in another thread (or was it earlier in this one - I don't recall...)
