The Second Genome - Available now - BBC Radio 4

A link to 3 episodes on the fascinating emerging science of the microbiome.
Gut bacteria and the role of microbiota crop up all over the place, usually involving spirulina and the ubiquitous effing coconut.
This is quality science journalism, packed full of interesting stuff. From labs and tech companies worldwide, the second genome explores the symbiotic relationship we have with bugs from many different avenues. More than just prebiotics, the theme is unlocking and understanding microbial dna with some mind-blowing implications for health.
Outside the UK you may have difficulties accessing the BBC website, I dunno......Anyway go outside and eat a varied diet. And get a dog. Science, yo.

Ben Palkuski had a guest on his podcast talking about this. It was pretty interesting. Can't remember the guys name, but he was trying to push some sort of charcoal supplement to improve your gut bacteria. He mentioned getting a dog as well. His suggestion was get a dog, take his supplement, then drive to some remote location with fresh air which you have never breathed before. Then take more of his supplement. This will improve your gut microbiome.
